I've got an early 77 so it came from the factory without rear seat belts and since I have a couple of small kids that might want to go for a ride sometimes, I'd like to install some. I found that under my rear seat and on the sides under the carpet I actually have what looks like threaded seat belt mounting holes, even though the seat itself does not have the holes. Does anyone know if these holes are threaded to accept the seat belt mounting bolts from the later seat belt equiped cars (924 and 944)? I tried a mounting bolt from some old front belts and it seems to be a different thread size (more coarse). Does anyone have a set of rear belts for sale cheap or trade? I do actually have the "female" end from a 944 but no bolts or the end that plugs in.

Thanks, Mik

Hi Mike, I'm doing the same thing as you, I've got a 78. I can tell you the holes for mounting the clasp side of the belts are under the seat, you have to cut your seat to get to them. The threaded welded nuts are 12X1.25 which is actually a fine metric, mine were rusted from road crap and needed to be chased. This is not a common tap either, it may take some effort to find if you need on. There are 2 spacers that go between the belt clasp and the body that take up the space in the seat foam. Don't forget to get these too.
