It's all going to depend on your local track rules. Some are very specific about where they want your cell placed. The earlier cars have external pumps..that all you need. _________________ 1976 924

Some using fuel cells with fuel-injected cars have recommended using the small "black box" style surge tank (inside the cell) to ensure adequate fuel flow under all conditions. _________________ Vaughan Scott

Here are the rules regarding the fuel cell. So my 1980 has an external fuel pump? What size hose should I use? Is it possible to make it run with out the seperate surge tank?
1. Stock fuel tank mounted in front of rear axle may remain in place. Rear hoop required if stock fuel
tank extends above centerline of rear axle. Hoop must be a minimum of 1 1/2” x .065 tubing. (See
tech. director for specific mounting details.) All other tanks must be replaced with a boat tank or fuel
cell, 8 gallon maximum.
2. Tank/fuel cell must be completely covered, secured, and located in forward most part of trunk or in
rear part of passenger area. Approved racing fuel cells exempt from being covered.
3. All fuel lines must be under car, (may not enter driver's compartment), and protected from being cut.
4. No glass of plastic fuel filters allowed. |

search this board , you will find it under fuel cell or John Mock , I believe Vaughn posted it from John's site he is director of south east division of 44 cup you can do it Johns way and use stock fill cap but cost a little more for the back flow preventer , or you can use standard cap and make trap door infloor of car to fill , afterlifting hatch cover , thant way tank is seperated from rest of car Jesse _________________ jesse wall 'new driver' , 87 924s |
