You all know I hate to talk about myself, but. . .

Shaggy gets his first track time of 2007 on Friday. The weather is cooperating, should be sunny and in the 60s. . .so we'll find out what the new brakes, wheels, tires & sway bars can do!

Oh, and it's the non-chicane configuration, so we should be well into 5th before braking for the old 3rd gear Turn One!

Well, the DE was awesome. I was conerned about the front straight speeds and braking being stressful, but concluded that slowing for, and maneuvering through the chicane is more so. . .it really breaks up the character of the rest of the track.

The tires and brakes were outstanding, and Shaggy ran well. There was a slight issue was with handling. . .I have a little too much push due to staggered tire sizes. So, before the next track day, the old sway bar will go back on the front, and I can see if the balance improves.

It also seemed as if I had a fuel delivery problem of some sort. WHen I shifted into 5th, all acceleration ceased, and the car cut out a few times at 6k+ in 4th. So, I am changing out both fuel pumps & accumulator this weekend. Next DE is this coming Tuesday, but it looks like rain, so I don't have a lot of interest. Next after that is 4/29, which will be a GO, weather permitting.

Damn, this is fun!

What front swaybar are you running currently? You could just increase your rear bar with the 19mm 968 part to get rid of the push. They were $141 when I picked mine up a few years ago. The car felt pretty well balanced at a/x but I haven't gotten it out to a DE yet. Fooling with tire pressures & a pyrometer could help too.

The fuel cut is weird. Isn't the rev limiter in the fuel pump relay on our cars? You could bridge the relay and try a 6k+ run to see if you can repeat the problem. Maybe the limiter is kicking in early.

Accumulators are usually good unless they're visibly leaking. Fuel pump is definitely a possibility.

Sounds like great fun though

Front sway bar is the optional 23, rear is the optional 14. I am considering putting the original 21mm unit back on the front. Is this the 19mm rear you are using?

As for the cutting out, it's definately a starvation problem. . .cutout doesn't occur in lower gears. I also just learned my fuel filter is in backwards, so that likely isn't helping.

^ yep, that's the one. It went up a whopping $8! Bolts right in very easily. I have mine set to the middle stiff setting.

Yikes! replace that filter!

Um yeah. . .it never would have occured to me (or the PO, apparently) that flow through that damn thing would be toward the rear of the car. . .

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, I ordered the rear sway bar. We'll see how it goes, and I still have the option of softening the front later on down the line. . .

That's the same rear bar I'm using, I find it an excellent match for the 23mm front bar (I'm still using that as stock). Of course I've changed my spring rates and t-bars, but the balance is still very much as per stock excluding the rear bar change. I rarely find myself wanting it at full stiff! I feel it's an excellent value.

So Vaughan, you are using the middle adjustment as well?

Changed everything out. Had some diagnostic fun as well. . .I ran the new pumps with the vent screw removed from the old accumulator. . .massive fuel spray out of the hole!

I don't think they are supposed to do that. . .

Have you checked your overboost switch and the wire that's attached to it?

You are correct about the accumulator, when you remove the test screw, no fuel should leak out.

19mm bar is installed, and my first impressions are AY CARAMBA. Balance at last! Car responds better, turns in quicker, and feels nice and nimble.

We have a PCA "Arrive & Drive" tomorrow morning, so I'll get to work it out a bit more, but so far, GREAT purchase.
