I just upgraded to a 2.25 exhaust. The mechanic originally bent the pipe to clear the rear axle. After final install it does not look like the bend was needed. I want him to cut that small section out and go full pipe
He creased it almost in half ruining the upgrade diameter. He claims it was to clear the axle but the clearance looks extreme. Does anyone have a measurement between pipe and axle? In his defense the tire was hanging while on the rack and therefore so was the axle. But a half bend !!!!!

I knew that positive thinking thing wouldn't work.

About three fingers (and my pipe is 100% straight in that spot). I'll post a pic if your "mechanic" wants to see it.

Thats what I thought. I have 2 inches and then the bend. I just looked again and it looks like he just smashed it down with a hammer.A picture would be great.

We all put it under the axle on the racecars, straight shot. When the car's in the air, there's maybe an inch clearance; of course when the car is on the ground the clearance grows.
(Edit - I see from the subject it is the pipe below the axle)

BTW, mine's 2.5" dia...
