Hullo. I have a BAE equipped car but the person who sold me the kit under the pretense that the turbo was working, may have... er, gilded the facts. Anyhow, I've cleaned up the oil, and now I need to get a new turbo for it, because the Rayjay doesn't look rebuildable as goodly amount of the center section worn away. Besides, couldn't you just get a turbo for the high price of the rebuild?

What turbos would fit with the BAE log manifold? I was thinking something with an external wastegate, as I'd use the BAE one for simplicity's sake. I might have to buy used, but I'd rather not. Any ideas? I had heard in the past that some of the Garret unit would bolt up?

Well thanks for your time.

Have you talked to um....gosh, Andrew? I forget his username, but he rallies his BAE turbo 924? He might have used a different turbo, but Im not sure.

Ryan - thanks, DS-777 and I have talked quite a bit about various things, but I still use the original turbo (have to for my class rules).

DS-777 - I'm sure there must be a modern turbo that has a similar flange that could be adapted. I'd be keen to know too in case mine packs up sometime and can't be rebuilt. Can you post a photo of the flange (if you still have it off the car) and give some measurements of the bolt spacing for people to work with?

I just picked up one of the BAE exhaust manifolds on Ebay. The guy that sold it measured the holes for mounting the turbo and claims they are 3-3/16" x 2-3/4" center to center. To the best of my knowledge that does not match any turbo flange commonly found on Garrets and the like. Anyone know better?

Also, the guy sent me a box of turbo parts (not the whole kit) but it does have the compressor side and the internals from the turbo. Maybe you can use the parts DS-777 to rebuild your turbo. It is a RayJay unit. He did not have the hot side so it makes the rest of it pretty useless to me.

If interested let me know.

Thanks NEMESIS, I'll keep it in mind for certain, but I was hoping to go with a smaller more efficient turbo if I can find one to fit.

I figured I'd go smaller because of space (cooling) and also because I don't plan on trying to get too much power out of it, so I figured I'd go for a 'quick' car with a faster spool time.

I'm sending a message to the people at Michigan Turbo to see if they know of any other turbos that would fit and a quote on the rebuild. I heard the rebuild is $175 if you do it yourself, and I have seen new turbos on ebay for similar amounts, so we'll see.

Well, I've been waiting a while, and theres been no reply yet from Michigan Turbo. I used the message system on their site, but I have my doubts about it working.

Does anyone know either the phone number of Michigan Turbo, or possibly some other midwestern supplier of turbos or rebuild kits?
