You'll need to push out the speedo (or one of the other two large gauges) from the back. There's two screws that hold the gauge bezel in place and are located in the top of the bezel. The gauges are just press-fitted into the bezel.

This is all much easier if you pull the steering wheel off. Pull off the horn pad, mark where the steering wheel is at so you can put it back on correctly and use a 24MM, (IIRC) socket to take it off. You can easily reach everything you need to.

But if you're going to pull the speedo to lube the cable, why not just replace the cable while you're in there? Usually, a bouncing cable means it's got a kink somewhere and is pinched so the lube may not work for too long. It's an easy thing to replace and you'll possibly end up doing it again in a few months.

While you have all the gauges out, take a look way in back on the fire wall and find the ground crown. There's about 8 ground (brown) wires hooked in a circle to this and provide grounds to a host of interior lights and functions. Clean them all with a small wire brush and clean the connection point on the firewall and coat with dilectic grease. Clean any other contacts you can get to. Your gauges will work more accurately, your dash lights will be a little brighter and your car will thank you for it.

This might add a couple hours to the job but you may as well do it as long as you're in there.
