Hello, I'm living in Holland where it's a law too have your car checked at essentiel points every year. My car failed om rod with the 2 flexibel points between the steering box and the rod where the steering wheel is attached too. (sorry I don't know the englisch word for it). In what tipe of VAG- car (VW or Audi) can I find this artikel in the scrapyard?
Thanks for the repleys
Vincent

Hey Vincent,

can't help you in that, but maybe wdb's idea in the links section will come handy this time.

Illustration of systems

check out the pages so you can refer the correct part.

Are you talking about #18 on the page Steering Rack, Manual?

I had the same problem last year when I had my car checked here in Finland. Called VW-Audi and a very helpful Porsche fan looked for a similar part in their catalogues. He didn´t find anything that would fit the 924. So I got a used 924 part and it works fine. Just replace the bolts and the locking nuts. The two joints on that part seem to be a problem on the early cars. I feel the steering is a bit loose even when all the parts are new. And that part wears fast too.

.....It´s the part that´s about 30cm and has a joint at each end, right? Otherwise I wrote all of this for nothing......

Have a nice day everybody.

AND CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU IN THE US. YOU BEAT US 6-0 IN THE FIRST HOCKEY GAME AND I GOT OUT OF BED AT 5.30 AM TO WITNESS IT.

Or actually leClerk beat us all on his own. There should be weight divisions in hockey too.

Thanks Nicke and Theo!

It is indeed the bar with 2 flexibel joints (nummer 18 on the drawing) Thank for reference too the drawings so I can use them more. It looks that I have too buy the original parts, I hope the costs wont kill me!
Greetings Vincent
