Hey guys
Having finally managed to get out and look at my starting probs, i checked out the FAQ on this site and consulted my Haynes manual.I couldn't start it from cold easily without disconnecting the fuel pump relay, it was as if it was getting too much fuel. So the first thing i did this morning was disconnect the cold start valve and away it went from cold first time!!!
I am therefore confused as to why it won't start with the cold start valve connected, can anyone give me a clue???
cheers

the cold start valve is controled y the thermo time switch disconect the wires going to the cold start valve and hook up a volt meeter remove the coil wire and turn the car over voltage should drop to zero within 10 seconds or less if not it could be flooding you can also check the aux air valve if it is not opening the fuel mixture is to rich
this combined with the water in your oil tells me you might have a head gasket leak hook up the vacum gauge and run compression and leakdown tests if your engine was recently rebuilt you may just need to retorque the head bolts |
