|

I don't want to convert to 5-lugs to get phone dials, and I know 4 lug PD's exist. What is the deal with 4-lug dials? Were they a factory option? What years did they come on? All I have found is that in the U.S. you had two choices on a standard 924- 8 spoke 14'' or 15'' spiderwebs. I have been trying to find some 4-lug PD's, and have had no luck. Anybody know where I can find some any, or have any background on them? _________________ Shut up fool, those are mine. |

The wheels that you are likely thinking of were aftermarket, and usually had 6 or more holes - I have seen up to nine in a Phone Dial style. I've never heard of a (Porsche) factory 4-lug Phone Dial. _________________ Josh, CPN

ATS (manufacturer of the five-bolt phone dial for Porsche) made some 4-bolt phone dials for 924s. They have not been made for years, but occasionaly a set or partial set of 4-bolt phone dials is offered for sale by members here on the board.
Recently, someone remarked that the car he bought had 4-bolt phone dials and he was looking to get something else. Another member had a partial set of 4-bolt phone dials and was looking for a 4th to complete the set. After waiting some months he gave up and offered the 3 phone dial wheels he had for sale, as he could not locate a usable 4th wheel.
If you search the archives, you should be able to find these threads, and you might find that one or other members with the dials is still looking for a Buyer. |

Does this mean that the 4-lug ATS is a Porsche part, or is it considered as an aftermarked? I have those wheels, but the center caps have the ATS logo. Does anyone know if the alu Porsche logo caps fits? _________________ -=Torro=- |

Remembered I'd taken a couple of pics of this 'beast' in Spain last year. Not sure what that rear spoiler's off.....Ford Sierra Cosworth maybe?.
This is the only one I've come across with 4 studs and it doesn't appear to have centre caps. I was also particularly taken with the tasteful contrasting pink and green steering wheel.....NOT!

The wing on that orange turbo is terrible. I couldn't imagine putting that on a Porsche. But about the phone dials...
I believe the only 4-lug (w/ 5 holes) phone dials made for the 924 were the ATS ones, but i could be wrong. These were aftermarket and you used to be able to get them from a certain Atlantic Auto Parts Catalog, but that's long gone. As far as the caps go... if you are talking about the ones i think you're talking about, then yes, they fit.
Just curious... what rims do you have on your 924 now? _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 |

As I live in Norway, I need two sets of wheels, one set of standard 14" alloy with snow tires, and the 15" phonedial with ATS - Made in Germany written on them. I am restoring those wheels and I am going to put 205-60/15 on them. BF Goodrich G-Force is on the top of the "wish list".
Should I paint the phonedials amarillo yellow as the car(will be later this summer), or alu? I can not deside _________________ -=Torro=- |

I have some factory 4 lug spiderwebs. I am pretty sure these came with my 924 back in '81. I just don't care for mesh wheels. Right now they are all I have, so they'll have to stay. I may or may not keep them. I will start looking for some 4 lug PD's. I assume the ATS's use the long bolts like the spiderweb wheels. There has got to be a set somewhere. I'll just have to keep looking. I can have some center caps machined. Add a Porsche logo, oh wait, I am not authorized to reproduce that.
That gold colored thing that looks like a 924 is something I think would be found in Mexico, not Spain. _________________ Shut up fool, those are mine. |

In our little Estonia we have 2 sets of those 4bolt ATS phone-dials. One set was mine in 2000 and I sold it to a Audi 80 guy (don't kill me) when i as converting to 5lugs. Yes, the wheels used long studs, but a bit shorter needed than spiderwebs. I didn't shorten the studs, I used 10mm spacer and they looked very nice.
The other set is on our local Porsche-board members car. Perhaps he's willing to sell them when converting to 5lugs, I could ask if someone is so after them.
They are 6 inches wide btw. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

That's an option, but may i suggest painting them black with a silver or chrome lip?
It did wonders for my car and all it takes is some high heat spray enamel ($6) and patience (priceless) _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 |

Why did that guy put turbo badges on when I would bet almost anything that it isn't a turbo. _________________ '79 924 now Totaled! Carrera GT bodywork for sale!

Well by the looks of that wing, he seems to care more about looking "fast" then going fast _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 |
