| Er, what I just said. It would be really cool to find out a little (or more) about all the cars in the pics. |

I second that idea. I want to know about the Yellow one with the intercooler or whatever sticking out the front.

I think that was simsports? Search in the Performance Upgrades forum for a thread by ESC944 that has a link to a PDF story about the car. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

That's strange Ozzie, because I thought New zealand was made up of the North Island, South Island and West Island... _________________ 1983 - 924 (185K miles) - not mint

I think you are getting confused with North Ireland, South Ireland and East Ireland. _________________ Porsche 924 1984 (UK import) NA

#14 was the original SCCA run off winner in 1980 (IIRC) and was driven by Doc Bundy for Holbert Racing back in those days.
Car is still owned and raced by Dick Howe in HRS. Should be heading for Watkins Glen for the historic races this weekend if anyone cares to check it out.
Best part is it currently resides in the metro Detroit area and I have had intimate contact with it. In fact I am supplying parts for the upcoming rebuild. We were in the running for building the new powerplant but ended up being nudged out by Mike Mount. They decided instead of a 2.0L based stroker motor to go with a 944S engine build from Mount and swap it in.
Having seen the car a half dozen times now I am just thankful to be able to check out the build on it, study the dry sump system, and all the suspension mods up close. The car is still sweet but it is definitely in need of some TLC.
I will be visiting the car again next week to deliver some things and will be sure to bring my camera. I took some pics on my phone one time but do not know how to get them loaded to the PC and they were not that great to begin with.
Sure would have been cool to build an EFI 2.4L supercharged motor for it but I guess that would throw him way out of the historic series he likes to race it in. Funny how the 2.5L swap is allowed and won't buck him out of that series. In the end though I'm satisfied with the fact that HBM is playing a part in the restoration process, no matter what capacity. _________________ MJ

Thanks for the info . I'm guessing that today's is also a 933? Also, is a 937 specifically a GTS or can it be any Carrera GT? Finally, is there a 938 or 939?
Cheers,
