looking for a wrecked 931 head for some R&D. Need to get a port cross section and figure out the thickness around the combustion chambers for CCing purposes.
Doesn't matter what's wrong with it whether it's warped, cracked, missing it's cam caps, stripped threads or damaged from timing belt breaking etc. I just need a casting to chop up and I'd rather not use a good one.
This is for my 933 style project engine.
I'm willing to pay a fair price plus shipping, PM me if you have anything or any leads.
*edit* Just noticed I put this in the wrong forum, my bad! _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

If you have a good head I can UT it and tell you the exact thickness without causing ANY damage whatsoever. (just little splooge marks) _________________ 1979 Euro 931, Olive

I think shipping from the UK to Canada would be prohibitively expensive but it's worth checking out _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

OK, when I get it off it and my spare 931 head are going to the machine shop to make one good un - hopefully... (spare head has threaded injector) and I'll have a head left over. If its really knackered I'll see what shipping is for you! If not too knackered it might go on the bay... _________________ 1998 BMW Z3 2.8 arctic silver & red

I managed to source one from my collection. After some cleaning up, it looks like the head I was intending on using has some minor water cavitation damage to the combustion chamber from the headgasket blowing. It could be fixed, but I need to chop one up anyways.
I'll hack this one up with a bandsaw and post my findings. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

Great! Can't wait to see the photos. It'll be really interesting to put them beside the 924 cross-sections. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)

Heh, just peering into the ports you can see there is quite a difference. I'll bring it into work tomorrow, although I have to finish my heater core flanges before anything else. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

Anyone know the difference between the 931 head and the CGT? _________________ 1981 931 (Concours)

Having second thoughts about that head. I'm considering adding to the chambers in certain places to gain more quench surface, so I probably won't hack this one up. Still need one for the bandsaw alter. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |
