|
|
I have a design i have come up with for a MAP Adjustable Cam Gear.
My design has no springs, no flyweights and unlike other designs, any dirt or inbalance, will not effect its operation.
You will be able to use it WITH or WITHOUT an ECU.
If you use it with an ECU you will pulse modulate the boost, using the usual spare PWM output on your ECU.
If you use it without an ECU, you just connect a pipe from your inlet manifold to the unit.
It will always fail safe in the advanced position, so on starting the vehicle with out any MAP, the timing will be were you want it.
This device will have no benefit for NON turbo users.
I intend to rig up a protype within the next couple of months.
If anyone knows what the torque on the cam wheel, will be mid centre, then you would be of great help ???? |

Hmmm sounds interesting, via manifold pressure ! would luv to see a functioning unit. _________________ 928 gts prototype

that is pretty expense is that Us dollars./ why boost related rpm vs load is better. _________________ 928 gts prototype

thats $85US for the one off price. It drops to about $60 for the 10 off break.
Plus its way to thick, I will design the protoype to be purely functional.
Once I got something working, I will reduce the material and a lot of the machine tools used. |

| what kind of fail safe are you putting in to it. if its self adjusting that means that the timing belt and the cam gear do not have a solid connection to each other. if something were to give out what will keep the pistons from SMACKING the valves. |

The semi circular cutout in the innercam(illustrated) act as an end stops, if the 8mm High Tensile Screw should snap.
The 2 halfs are connected by a screwbar.
The outer gear fits, over the inner(illustrated), it has lugs that move within the semi circular groove.
I'm currently looking for mini rose joints, that can be threaded. For the screw to pass through.
Then I can complete the design of the outer cam gear. |

58 ft-lb : timing belt pulley to camshaft bolt
Sounds nice... so what are the + and - limits of the unit...
P.S what cam duration range would you think work best with this setup...??
