I've noticed that many of you, like myself, have trouble letting go of old cars. I currently have four none of which is less than 15 years old. Does anyone know of an
Insurer that will issue a liability policy that covers the driver and co-driver (my wife and I) regardless of what car they happen to be driving? Basically we have two daily drivers and two pets. It seems silly(and overly expensive)to insure a car that only sees a couple of hundred miles a year as if it were a daily driver.

I dont know much about insurance, but if you have a dealers licence, your given dealer plates and any car you place them on is covered by your insurance.here in texas, dealer licence cost about $500.oo and you are required to buy and sell a certain number of cars to maintain your licence.you could buy junkers and sell them for what you paid for them, just to meet your quota.the cost and requirements may be different in your area. couldn't hurt to make a few phone calls and check. also I have heard that if you raise your deductable ( the money you pay out of pocket in the event a claim is filed on your policy )that you premium goes down. you might want to call your agent and check and see if its true and worth doing

I know for sure that's not cost effective in Ontario, Canada.

have you tried talking to an insurance broker?
No idea how the system works there but down here there are a lot of insurance companies offering multiple vehicle policies. Basically you pay full price on your nominated daily driver and then pay a very reduced rate on your toys, usually based on the number of miles you expect to use it/them each year. |
