I just replaced my 92 degree radiator fan switch with an 82 degree one, but I didn't replace my thermostat (which probably still opens up at 92 degrees). Then I found this page, where it says:

"it is very important that you get a switch and thermostat matched for the same temperature. mis-matching them even by 3degrees centigrade will cause just as much of a problem as it solved."

Does anyone know why it would cause a problem to have the fan turn on sooner than the thermostat opens? Should I buy a new thermostat to match the temperature switch even if the one I have still works?
