Why do I have big pools of water in the area behind each of my rear wheels? It sloshes around when I drive and it seems to be slowly leaking out of the right side. It must be rainwater because it has been raining a lot lately, but how did it get there? It doesn't seem like the hatch is leaking.

lift up the cover on the right side in the back of your car. the water might be in there. mine did the same thing, there was just a clogged drain...

The rear hatch catches have a drain in them and the drain line runs down into the wells and through a rubber grommet to dump the water outside of the car. Sometimes when putting stuff into these wells you can pull the drain line out of the rubber grommet and the water stays in the well. Also if you have a sunroof there is a drain that also goes into the whell and through a rubber grommet to the outside. Check these first. Otherwise it could be leaking through the hatchback seals.

How come I have two hoses but only one rubber grommet on each side? This is why the compartments were filling up with water. One hose drains out through the hole, but the other one just pours water straight into the compartment. Once I pulled the grommet hoses out, almost all of the water drained out through those holes. I guess I could leave it like that, but I'd rather not have water in those areas at all. Should I drill more holes for the other hoses or something?

There should be a drain hole some where in the base of the well - normally it gets full of junk over a period of time - it's not that big. I'll have to go an look in my car tonight as to where the holes actually are but I think the sunroof one goes through a grommet mounted on the "floor" of the well and the drain from the hatch goes out the side.

Ok I think I understand now. My problem is that the hatch drain hoses aren't connected to the hatch. One end just dangles around inside that area and the other goes out through that side hole. Earlier I had assumed the water travels the other way through those hoses, but I guess I was wrong. So, now my question is: where does the hatch drain come from? I can't find what the top end is supposed to connect to.

The hatch drain hose connects to a plastic part where the hatch pin connects to, it's just above the lights.
