what is the stock size tires on my '88 924S? i have 195/60/15's on their right now but i heard stock was 195/65/15...also, what is the widest tire i can fit on there without rubbing the fender and suspension and not having to roll the fenders? i'm considering 17's for the wheel size. i want good handling and lighter wheels than stock so if i could fit like 215 or 225's on there it would be great.

Your post points out an obvious fact.....you don't know how tire sizes work. But you won't know unless someone tells you so here is how it works. P195/60/15R P-passenger vehicle 195 is the WIDTH in milimeters of that 195mm 60% of that is the height from the rim. 15" rim R radial tire.

195 is width
60 is percent of 195
and 15 is how big wheel is

umm...i know that but what does it prove? and it doesn't answer my question.

If you want lighter wheels then stock going with a bigger diameter isn't going to help unless you buy a set of sparse looking alloys. Your also going to have to buy more expensive low profile tires to fit, and unless you race the car the harsher ride isn't goingto be very comfortable especially if you plan to stiffen or lower the suspension

i want to maintain the same size tire/wheel combination. and yes, you can get 16-17's that are lighter than stock usually. also, is it recommended to get bigger tires on back b/c my car seems to sway at higher speeds and i want more stability.
