Wow what a blue sky and cool looking track you had there.
We have some great venues here in the UK but most often not the weather!
Car looked very quick as it past the camera. Mine makes a great whine from the blower, if only I could get soemone to post a movie clip of it!
Got a meeting at Croft in a few weeks. I'll see if anyone can manage to film it for me.
Cheers

Yes I only wish my car made a little bit more noise. It sounds very sedate going down the straight compared to the alfas and various other cars with straight exhausts. Hmm maybe one of those electronic exhaust valves for track day _________________ 1979 931 with a 350 chev

It's not really somthing old guys should do, you might break a hip. I hear the nursing homes in Aus are great, you get to crap in bed and all they do is roll you over. Sounds like fun!
P.S. If you taped the F1 race, I'll trade you for it. Don't hold the above comments against me either, not that you could, with your old memory! |

Sounds good. I'll be in touch.
BTW, my mate went in the "Chance of a Lifetime" race there. They were racing semi-prep'd Daewoo Lanos'. He was getting about 1 min 26 secs around the short track. Did you use the short track? By "15.56" and "11.08" did you mean 1 min 15.56 secs, etc..?
He reckons his club racing Gemini (suspension alterations and lightened but basically stock mechanicals) will lap in around 1 min 24 secs... go toofah! _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

Yup I meant 1min 15sec and 1min 11sec on the sprint track... which MAY be different from the short track, not sure. If a racecar was going 9 seconds slower than me I'd be very surprised so I think that must be the longer track. 1min 26sec in a Daewoo Lanos sounds about right for the track I was on.
Last video should be fixed. _________________ 1979 931 with a 350 chev

I'd say it's the same. Far as I know, they only have two track configurations. I just said "short" track 'cause it's shorter than the main track. Racers probably call it the sprint track...
The Gem is only a 1.6 or 1.8-litre and the engine and gearbox are stock. They're not exactly rocketships! The Gem is built for a one-make series (actually it was Paul Morris' car) and very few mod's are allowed. Not surprised that the toofah's quicker. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |
