hey hey its me again asking tonnes of questions. this question is in refference to my first posting about my 87 924S not starting after a rebuild. ive been through so many ideas...pressure regulator, spark, computer, flooded....and my worst fear, no valves again. well this time i think im sure (ha ha) i think its the fuel pump. A) because its not flooded B) because i have a fair amount of fuel in the rail just not 30 psi worth and its going through the injectors, and C) because my computer controlling the injectors is good. so what i plan to do is hook the injectors into the rail (not the manifold) and crank, if a desirable "spirt" is noticed then im really screwed as i will have no idea whats wrong. anyway where is the fuel pump located on this car (not in the tank i hope) and is it easy to change and is it expensive? cheers....Johnny

I am definitely not a 924 or 924S expert. As a matter of fact, I have never put a wrench on one, yet. The symptom you were describing after replacing the belt sounds like you may be firing on the EXHAUST stroke instead of the compression stroke. Is it possible you have the distributor timed incorrectly? That is, the rotor pointed at #1 position with #1 at TDC, but at TDC on exhaust instead of compression stroke. The sound you were describing is typical of a plug firing with the exhaust valve open.
Hopefully I can find a nice 924 in the near future. I only recently found this board and joined, so I have never even seen the timing marks on these engines.
