I just got a 944 intercooler and figure that I'll take out the CIS as well. Right now I'm just going to make a Frankenstien fuel system from a Nissan 240sx, until I can afford a programable one. I'm also putting in a garrett turbocharger, simply because mine is going bad and my friend has a garrett that he's selling for cheap.
I'm just curious who else has taken out the CIS and put in a custom fuel and ignition system. Any interesting things I should be looking out for? Any tips? I'll let you guys know when I get it done, but with school and stuff I probably won't even start until Christmas break. I plan on getting everything done during break, sans the intercooler piping and maybe a few other minor things that are easy but will cost more money, like the exhaust.
I'm going to be pulling the whole motor and cleaning it up while I'm installing the turbocharger and while that's out I will have to install the Nissan crank angle sensor. I'll probably take out the pop-up headlights and put in Carrera GTS style buckets, that will give me plently of room for intercooler piping, I hope.
After I get it all done, I should be getting some pretty decent amounts of horsepower, but it's going to take a LOT of work to get it to ever compete with my brothers 924+LT1 www.content2drown.com/924LT1
Take 'er easy,

I can't provide any input to your questions about converting from the stock CIS system, but I think you will find that the stock K26 turbocharger has a unique, triangular mounting flange. I don't recall anyone on the Board successfully adapting another turbo to mount in the stock location, or adapting the existing manifold to relocate the turbo in order to use another make/model. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |
