I've noticed over the last week or so that it sometimes takes a long time to display a topic. If you get bored and hit the "stop" button the posts flash straight up.
The problem is the mirabilis.com (ICQ) servers not us.
What happens is that when the board software builds a page of posts if any of those posts are from guys who have included their ICQ address in their profile the software checks with the mirabilis server to see if those guys are online. If the online.mirabilis.com server is having a bad day we get to wait until the board software gets an answer or gets bored.
I'll have a look at the software and see if I can get it to push out the page before it goes checking on the ICQs.
Until I get it fixed, just hit "stop" if the board seems to stall while loading a topic. |

I found exactly that. Glad to know it wasn't just me. I also noticed all the text on the last page of the 'Body and Interior'/'Best looking 924/931 Competition' string has been replaced with zeros or is that just me?

now that is totally wierd. I get the same thing (lots of little boxes).
Interesting thing is that it does not happen when I open the page in Internet Explorer, only happens with Netscape. And, no, I don't suggest that you use the microsoft product - I hate sites that try and force me to do that.
I'll have a look at the page and see if I can find what's causing it. The microsoft browser seems more forgiving of errors in html. |

OK, I've fixed the slowdown caused by the ICQ lookup.
Basically we no longer try and find out if a member is currently online. It just puts up a confused icon.
If you're into online chat you can check yourself. Sorry, it was just slowing things down too much. |
