OK, barring a major realignment of the planets I fully intend to be back out there with #77 Blue (sporting fresh blue and white) for this major event! We expect a large GTS turnout, and intend for GTS1 to not be under-represented!
I believe we can expect Jeremy and dad to attend with both cars, and with a little luck perhaps also Ryoji as well! I will be rounding up crew from the area to support.
I also expect we'll see Christian Cook with his GTS2 924S. I don't think we're likely to be able to convince Dallas to come all the way over for this event, though I won't say never!
Andy, what's your status likely to be as of August? Do you think you'll be able to come out and play with us with your Prod car, or will it likely still be in the works? If not driving, will you consider coming out one or more days to crew? With all those guys coming in from out of town, they're going to be without their usual crew and in need of our help.
Come to think of it, we'll need a bit of a block of rooms! Right now I can think of perhaps 5 from the Detroit area coming down with me to help crew.
Last, but not least, John Brown... still trying to work him up to it, but having a little trouble getting a response out of him to the affirmative! Perhaps once the J500's out of the way and successfully in the books he'll be a little more interested in coming back up here... I know he knows the track... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Unless that realignment happens, the car won't be ready to play. I'm getting the finances straightened out, but it will probably be a month before I can do somewhat serious dollars at the car. However, I have been building the 'bank of favors' from the GT1 car, so maybe we'll see how that plays out. And, since that car will be on the track this weekend, the frentic late-nights on it should abate (unless Tom decides to stuff it somewhere....) Unfortunately, the next step is a cash outlay to get it dipped.
I should have some alternative financing for it along the lines of what we have emailed privately. I've been making fairly rapid progress. Look for an announcement next week. (TEASER!)
I had not planned on flagging that weekend for a variety of reasons. However, I will crew. Of course, you guys will teach me more about the cars than what I can provide! I might be able to get part of the GT1 gang, too. All I ask is that you feed me. |

Yeah food is really not a problem. We come prepared and well stocked with polish sausage and tons of Brats. The grill will be going almost immediately when we set up.
Vaughn, if your looking into rooms, I'm not sure we will need any because we'd like to have the "PORSCHE-IT" hauler fully functional to accomodate us. We would just sleep in the truck once the cars are parked.
We may get there a little late but hopefully be able to make the first on track session. But because we've never raced Mid-O before, were gonna need a track class session with you as the instructor. Then were gonna line up behind you on the grid and learn what you would'nt share with us in our class discussion
I really can't wait for this Mid O race and I'm leaving in a few hours to race at Pocono!

Sweet!! I'll be lining up at least a couple of rooms in Mansfield for me and crew.
If you want instruction, John Brown may be better at passing along the info, even if I may have been there more times (not really sure of that one). I can provide some video to study, which is very useful, and nothing is better than a track walk - but it's a long one, so bring a few beers! Only problem is getting the walk in before driving - Friday evening will work great, but that'll be after the on-track sessions start... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Jeremy, I'll be more than happy to show you a special line around Mid Ohio. Anything I can do to help a competitor you know _________________ John

LOL! Of course, we may be running the Pro course (without the chicane before the keyhole), which means I'll have a leg up on all you guys before we get rolling! _________________ Vaughan Scott

I can help, too. I see more cornering in a day that you probably do in a year. And, yes, this is an ad to urge drivers to also work corners - it is a superb way to study lines.
Everyone also needs to remember that your Mid-O info may not be completely accurate. They ground all the concrete this year, so lines have changed a bit. And the 'rain line' does not exist anymore. |

Shoot. I just realized that I am committed to work Potomac PCA club race that weekend. I am the communications steward and having committed I can not back out now. Had I the choice then surely Mid Ohio would be the destination!
Now that the car is running we started looking seriously at the schedule and since Jerry couldn't come I intended to drive myself; then saw my schedule as indicated above. Pooh.
Next year.
I REALLY like the course and drove it first part of May this year after the surfacing work. _________________ John

Vaughan,
Mid O.......August, I feel this would be better albeit further away than RA on Labor Day.
Under SERIOUS consideration! But one race at a time! hehe as I may need motors and trannies and all kinds of parts after my debut! Dal |

No worries, understood, and we're all somewhat tentative until we actually load the car on the trailer! Do hope you can make it.
While we're on the subject - are you (still?) thinking about the Halloween weekend at RA? I'd very much like to make it, assuming everything's more or less in one piece (including the budget)... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Holloween I have a CR at my training grounds...HPT. I have to attend my region event or get a quick lesson on "saving face!"
But heck the weather changes often and so do my decisions! So we'll see!
