Hey, I'm new here and I am also still quite un-familiar with the technical side of cars. I have 2 porsche 924's and I am currently restoring one of them. When it is done I will post some pics
So my questions:
How do you remove the fuel injectors and clean them?
My car seems to "backfire". What is the cause of this? How could I fix it?
When idle for about 10 mins my car also starts to "jerk" or "miss" a little. Has anyone ever had this problem?
This is prob the stupidest question ever posted : I currently have a 4 speed manual transmission and I would like to upgrade to a 5-speed manual transmission. What does this require? Could it be done? How much do you estimate it will cost?
Thx for your time,
nrop. |

Porn spelt backwards not that i know what porn is or anything like that...
injectors - they just pull straight out, though they can be a tight fit... i normally grab mine with a pair of grips and "heave"!
backfiring - i'm guessing air/fuel mixture or ignition timing, but the others here know more about that side of these cars... your other problem is probably related i'd guess.
gearbox - keep the 4 speed man, it's more fun and face it on a little island when are you gonna be using 5th gear _________________ Mars Red '78 Euro 924 n/a

But hey, if he had a 5-speed, he'd get better acceleration out of 1-4!
Actually, it should be so bad; other than the trans itself, I think you'd need the shifter rod (goes from trans to shift lever)? I think that's about it? I haven't done that conversion, specifically, though I've done just about every other... Perhaps someone can confirm?
I should mention, you'd need the non-snailshell trans, and not a 931 or 944; so, from an 81-82 924. You could fit a 931/944 trans, but that'd be a little more complicated; you'd either need to modify the coupler at the trans input shaft, or use the 931/944 torque tube with a Ford clutch disc, as noted in the Tech Section. I was using this setup for a couple years on the racecar, no issues. _________________ Vaughan Scott
