If seem to remember someone trying to get the 944spec or some similiar spec series started in the Oklahoma area.
Did anything ever come of the effort?
Thanks

We're now looking into bringing GTS Challenge to the NASA Texas region, which is the closest I believe... I'm not aware of a NASA region closer to OK... (GTS is already in the SouthEast NASA Region) _________________ Vaughan Scott

Bart,
The 928 owners club will be racing/running at Hallet on July 9th. I understand it will be open for others also. BTW Hallet is located west of Tulsa on highway 412. I also understand Tulsa Speedway is building a road course on highway 169 just south of Owasso.

Dennis-
When you say others do you mean other Porsches or any other make? I have been racing at Hallet for 10 or so years. I am currently running a '71 G-production Datsun 510 with the SCCA. I plan to be at the SCCA National on the 4th of July weekend.
My understanding is that the new track in Tulsa will be located where the current drag stip is located. I hear the drags strip will still be operated as well. Rumor is the new coars will be relatively flat but have more high speed turns than Hallet. I prefer the elevation changes over a flat track but having two road coarses within an hour or so of the house will be great!!!

The plans have been revised again due to PSO not willing to move some power lines, well they would but for 186K.
The course will better for spectators and for a business wanting to make a many bucks as possible having a course where you can see it (versus hallet) is a plus. Selling tickets can make an event profitable.
I think drivers will like it still. The elevation changes will slight but hopefully the corners will wider to make for some interesting passing. _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

NASA has a date on the Hallet schedule for what I thought was the 944 cup, but I could be wrong _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

For anyone who cares to know.....just about every utility company will move their facility (pipeline, electric lines, water line, etc....) on your property or onto someone elses property if there is a safe place to move the facility but you the landowner/developer will have to pay for the move.
Isn't the guy who bought the drag facilities a real estate developer????
Would have thought he would know that......

The NASA Hallett date is Aug 14-15. That's the Texas region:
http://www.nasatx.com/main.asp
They currently do not show either 944Cup or GTS Challenge, however we are looking into the possibility of expanding GTS Challenge to the Texas Region - as there's plenty of drivers in the area... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Spoke with John McDermott (another 928 owner) and it appears the 928 OC running at Hallet on July 9th will be sponsored by the Tulsa (Cimarron) region of the PCA for insurance purposes. That means that it should be open to other Porsches. I will let you know as soon I hear something definite.

As the secretary for the region.....I suppose I could post this for those interested. It isn't official, but I don't see why the board wouldn't approve it on the next agenda.
The 928 Owners Club is having another International Convention in Wichita,
KS this year. We have reserved Hallet on Friday July 9 for a DE. Last time
we held our DE in conjunction with the Wichita PCA region. Basically we would
organize the whole thing but get insurance through the Cimarron region and
we would run it according to PCA rules. PCA members that don't own 928's
would be welcome to drive but we will probably limit it to PCA members only.
Instructors would be most welcome! _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

Once more to comment on the NASA-TX Hallett date - we are actively trying to get GTS Challenge going in the NASA Texas Region as we speak. I strongly recommend those interested in attending the Hallett August event (even as DE participants, not just racers) contact NASA Texas and let them know now that you're in the area and are interested in GTS! Show the demand, and we'll make sure the supply is there! _________________ Vaughan Scott
