This morning my girlfriend and i went out to breakfast... i was half-napping peacefully in the passenger's seat when i saw a racoon or something dart across the road. My girlfriend saw it too, tapped the breaks, and the snow did the rest. We hit the rail at about 15mph, maybe even less, but it doesn't look pretty. Since it was a head-on, both of the fenders are tapped (need replacing), both lights, and the middle section above the bumper. None of the mechanicals were affected, and she still drives like a dream.

At this point i seem to be looking at a new front end for a car i just finished fixing (a lot of you know what it takes to get one of these darlings to run like it was designed to), and i'm told 924 body parts are hard to find. IMHO it would be idea to get a new front end altogether, slice off the old one, and just replace it. This mostly comes from the fact that the radiator mounts have been on my mind for a while now, and this seems a good a time as any.

The other option is to find someone looking for a *shudder* parts car, or someone looking for a track car that they're going to re-body (this sounds like a decent idea since she eats an n/a 944 for breakfast).

So i'm here looking for input from the guru's, you guys've dealt with this kind of stuff for years. What would you guys suggest i do?

if you love the car and are sentimentally attached then time to start cutting and welding,
have you checked to see if your insurance will cover it?

That depends on if the uni-body was damaged. Since they are only 5mph bumpers I would assume you have radiator support damage and maybe even some slight buckles in the front frame rails?

I need to see a picture to know. Open the hood and take a shot.

If you can find a donor car for the pannels and there is not too much damage to the uni-body she can be fixed cheaply if you are willing to do the R&R on the body pannels.

If there is buckled uni-body. Remove the parts the shop recomends and then have them perform the pulls needed to straighten the parts. Then bolt on your new/used pannels and get some paint.

If you are not attached to the car.... and the insurance wants to total it... buy it back cheap and part it out.

I'm pretty attached to the car, seeing as i've prolly spilled more blood under my hood than in every fight i've been in put together .

Unfortunately i can't take a photo, no digi cam around. My mechanic saw it this morning (they guy's a porsche pro, he's owned at least one at any given time for the past 20 yrs), and he said it didn't look that bad, told me to get pricing estimates, and get back to him. He knows body work as he worked in a body shop for a number of years.

Which leaves me without a car in the forseeable future, classes to attend, and clients to see. Hmm.... So anyone here have any cheap front ends?

Depends on how far you want to drive. I bet I can get you a decent price on a front clip. You just need to tell me what you need.

I am in Massachusetts though.
