I just ran across this on 924
http://www.924.org/techsection/1engine.htm
Has anyone done the Throttle body upgrade from an Audi?
Is it worth it?
Which model,Year, did you take it from?
I'm looking to enlarge the secondary for a little kick when flooring the pedal.

I got one from a audi 5000 87. Definitely bigger can't say I noticed a big difference though. I here the weber or 944 upgrade is better. You can also use the throttle body fromm a a-2 GTI as they are CIS as well.

I have done both a VW upgrade and the mid 80s-early 90s audi upgrade. look for the ones with the small side vacuume line. Look at my site and likely you will see what I mean.

I have a performance cam and ported/polished head and intake. I had very little time with the actual stock throttle body before I upgraded to the larger one. Can not say I noted a large increase due to a throttle body. What it does seem to do is bog the engine a bit if you go full throttle at low rpms. Others have said this makes no sence but in my car... that is what happens. Though if you can control your enthusiasm and put say 90% throttle until 5000 rpms it rewards you with a rush up to 6000+ when you give it that extra little push.

I am sure some of this can be adjusted with the amount you adjust your pedal position to throttle opening.

Anyway you can see my project at my site. I am working on the other engine now. Well part of it.

Note this. If you have done nothing but the throttle body upgrade you will see no power increase. You can also read this at my site by taking the link below and going to 924 power tricks link on the left. It outlines that nothing can really be increased until you get better head flow.

Yup been there done that. Though I ultimately
got a used redline single throat racen tb
from back east. I will not go back. The
audi will help some. You will be pressed
to feel the difference. Though its there.
Why bother unless its a money
thing. Thats OK.
The redline will blow it out of the water.
Get the 2nd upgrade the after market tb.
There under 200.00

I even polished my audi up before
Jpab gave me the redline. The
redline kicks ass.

Got the Audi body on Sunny and believe it does make a differance, particularly on full throtle. Not sure how it would be on a US spec car though.
