Im 18, bought my 924 last fall when i was 17. Before that I drove an 89 f-150(still own it, but can afford gas in it) that is now lifted and on 35's, with all the usual big truck stuff. then a year ago a came across a good shape 89'lincoln mark VII(basicly a 5.0 stang, with leather and air susp.) with smashed front end, fixed and drove it. then traded it last fall for a 80' camaro. Which I now sold to get more parts for my 924. Now if only this damn minnesota snow would melt so i can get my baby out!! Im sick of making payments, when I can drive it!!

38 was 36 when it came my way,the guy Brien across the street inherited the porsche at first he wanted 1500 I was hooked on that thing though I would go to bed thinking how cool it was gonna be when it was on my side of the street or in the drive..he couldnt get it to run though and the brakes were bad, master cylinder and rear brake cylinders needed replacing..So The price dropped to 500
I bought new injectors then kept having problems replacing everything including the fuel dist. Then I was informed by [Andres a german dude who likes HAMMS beer and owns[ The european car clinic hes builden a 356 that it was prob. rust in the gas tank since the cap was all rusty ,out came the tank I boughta couple of motorcylcle tank reseal kits and resealed it then put it bck and it worked ..no problems since Had the brakes completly redone and love to drive it.

Tom, 22. Alex, cool with the E6, there. I hope that works out. Keep us posted on how you tune that sucker and how it turns out. Are you going to "eyeball" the software, or throw the engine on a dyno?

Hey, for once I don't feel old! Thanks guys.

I'm 18, and buying my first 924 in a couple of months. I'm an entrepeneur. I make nothing but money now! I'm opening my shop before buying my car though, because my garage is full of cars(76 Dart Swinger, 77 Ford LTDII[argument with telephone pole, the Ford still won, and drove home]).

It's a 79 NA, had a 944 spoiler, doesn't now. It's had some tuning done to the engine, I'm not too clear on what, but it has 11:1 compression. The wheels are 4 bolt 16x8s. I always wondered who bought wheels like that. Now I know.

30...bought the 924S about 2 years ago. It has been a runner since I purchased it but was/is in need of alittle tlc. Slowly getting all the mechanicals working correctly then will turn my attention to the cosmetics. The PO must have liked to run into stuff.

I'm 48, picked up my 1980 924t last spring for $600.00 from a friend of a friend who was tired of the car nickle and diming him. I knew nothing about the car but took it 'cause I thought it looked nice and it was cheap enough. I thought the wheels were worth that much. I refurbished the motor in the frame (valve job, 1 new piston, rings and rod bearings)and a couple months later put it on the road. Been driving it every day since and am spending plenty of nickles and dimes but I sure enjoy the ride. I can't figure out why any one would put a stereo in these cars it makes it so hard to hear the symphony that is Porsche. Cheers. john

I just turned 33. I bought my 82 924 in July of 2000. It needed a new clutch and new tires, but otherwise was in excellent condition. It is an everyday driver, but I have only put about 3K on it since I bought it (grand total of 86,600 miles on it... odometer works). My great disadvantage is that I know very little about doing any work on it myself. I have a really good mechanic I take it to. I am a little skittish right now about trusting my car for long rides, as I just had a big trauma when the thermostat broke... but so far so good since I got it back from the mechanic. Now I can afford to do the interior work I have planned for this year...

I'm 42, but good genes, young kids,a healthy diet, lots of running and the grace of God has kept me much younger....until the 924 came along. Between the stress of working on my car's many problems and absorbing gasoline while working on my fuel system, I'm afraid I may start aging soon Back in 1997 I was looking for a cheap MG or Triumph to restore, since I had owned 2 MGs in the past and really love them. I ended up finding the 1977 924 for $600 and found it appealing because it needed mechanical work, but was not rusty (which a cheap british car would be). I've worked on it as time and money permits, patiently searching out deals on good used parts. This discussion group has been a life saver for me many times, and I appreciate you all. I'm currently trying to get it ready for PA inspection, but will not trust driving it to Hershey this year. I'll be reduced to showing up in a Pontiac Sunbird
