Dont go for less than 25.5mm bars. The harsh ride is caused by stiff dampers, for springs to cause that they have to be incredibly stiff.

I have 28mm at the rear, cheap as chips from cip1 vw store. But my 931 is probably heavier, have #350 at front, 28/22 sways. If I drove only on the street i could go with sligthly softer, for track i wouldnt.

A friend of mine have an early 924 with 25.5 at the rear and about 250# at front (adjustable spring seats from rallydesign.co.uk), pretty soft on track but waay better than oem. Very fun car on the street/autox, matched with GAZ adjustable shocks all around. (I have those to on the 931)

Exactly - it's enough work that you'd best make it worthwhile/noticeable.

Don't forget too, the impact of tire selection on ride (due to sidewall stiffness)... it's massive.

Hello all. I finally got my 924 back a couple of days ago, and have been working on the reassembly, installing the euro bumpers and lights, etc. Still have much to do, but its getting here. I doubt I will see one like it anytime soon!

Yes, CCP Fab kit. It is very, very strong now that it is reinforced with some supports below. It is a nice kit. But as usual, the nature of fiberglass required a ton of time getting it to fit correctly, especially with using the Euro front bumper. It has a much different shape than the US bumper, especially at the corners where it meets the fenders. I also had about 3" of rear quarter cut out, and seam welded back together under the rear flares. Looking up into the rear wheel tub, it is flat, and the seam is hardly evident. This allows for any ride height I desire, and a ton of room for just about any wheel. My rims are 9" in the back, and I think they will need spacers to fill them out. I also deleted the round reflectors out back.

Hello all. I have finally had a couple days to work on the car. Its coming along. Installing the cage soon, the the rest of the interior. I have most of the suspension done, and have the wheels installed. I wish I had the ability to take better pics, but here it is so far.
I took the pics in the dark garage to show the fender flares. The look kinda cool IMHO. Thoughts?

Hi. Thanks for the compliment. I am currently running 15 X 8" on the rear, with zero offset and a 3.5' lip, and 15 x 7" up front, with 25mm offset and 1.5" lip. I have spacers on the front and rear just to fill up the fenders. Believe it or not, I have a 2" spacer on the front, and 1.5" spacer on the rear, and still have massive amounts of room under there. These fenders allow me to easily run a 12" wide rear, and at least a 9" front rim with zero offset, but with no power steering, I am going to limit how wide the fronts will be for steering effort. I am using spacers because I cant find wheels wide enough right now. Eventually, I will have Joengbloed wheels build a custom set of 214 Aero's that will not need the spacers, but I want to drive it a while first to evaluate things, figure out ideal offsets, etc before I spend 3K on wheels. Soon. I think the car will have the 8" wheels with big lip on the front, and the rears will probably end up having a huge lip like the IROC Fuchs from the early 70's. That will help fill up the "grand canyon" wheel tubs! For now, these wheels are XXR 002 model, and are VERY inexpensive, and have the period correct look.
