skimming the head should be part of a head reco and a definate must IMHO

If you want to a bit of a clean up to the ports do it now. You can remove the valve retainers by placing a 24mm socket and long extension over the top an hitting it with a hammer quite firmly... the collets will pop out on a good strike

get in there with a dremel and smooth the bump out and go at it with a flap wheel.
Then have the inlets sand blasted with the reco.
At the same time port match the ports to new gaskets.

Get all new studs for the head on the inlet and exhaust side especially... most of these will be stuffed, never had issues with the cam studs.

get futomo drain valve for the oil pan
tap new hole for oil temp sensor if your using the other hole for a drain back for the turbo

new belts ... cam /alternator

new wiring for the starter & aleternator, including some heat shielding tape.
replace the earth straps and the one on the alternator

add an oil cooler & thermostat, preferably with a remote location adaptor

new clutch cable
just to name a few
