| Have you checked with a Porsche dealer? I bought a rebuilt one with a 2 year warranty for less than $800 a few years ago. |

The places that im talking with are the top 3 Porsche workshops/ tuners/ dealers in NZ and they have their whole hand in the nz porsche community pie. im not holding any hope out for it. theres only 6 x 924 turbos i know of in the country and ones mine and ones John H's (from this forum), another 2 of them are also race cars owned by 2 brothers. At a sensible guess id say there would be no more than 10-11 of these cars on NZ roads, theres really no 2nd hand spares market for these cars here _________________ '86 944 |

You're slightly wrong on you estimatation of the number of turbo's in NZ - I've three in my garage (one in boxes) the other two as runners, In wellington where I live I know of at least 5 others including the corletts two.
As for the turbo rebuild who did you go to there's quite a few places to go to in Auckland other than Tiurbo Vehicles and th eliek, the agents do sometimes have spare units - my last unit was brought of Giltraps and a reasonable price.
Even if you have shagged the shaft you can still get parts the old KKK agent in NZ used to be diesel services Limited (in receivership) but teh current KKK agent is Turbochargers NZ Ltd http://www.turbochargersnz.com.
As for the the three tuners who are you talking to?
Drop me a line if you want more detaisl of who can do what. The turbo I race on one of the so called tuners reckoned was shagged and would shit itself first time it got hot cause it had a couple of cracks in the turbine housing 10 years later it's still developing heaps of boost so don't beleive all they say. _________________ Remember a Porsche is not just for Christmas,

wow i didnt realise there was so many!! ur hogging them all john!
i talked with powerhaus in wgn, fastforward in akl, and steve at europacific.
the parts that i need are
- exhaust housing
- centre housing
- exhaust impellor
- inlet impellor
steve at europacific has been searching and is having to price the parts from the states. hes also going to price me a rebuilt unit from the states where the last one he got was $1800.00
turbochargersnz is where the turbo was taken to by my mechanic friend. theyre the ones that stripped and diagnosed it.
i might give giltraps and quadring a call this morning!
and yes, im staying with the k26 _________________ '86 944 |

Hmmm, a 931 all the way to 1987, and some for the 928 too?!?! News to me, though I've never claimed to be the most informed person on the planet. I wonder who the manufacturer "KC" is. I think I'll stick with OEM... _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

Tell me more guys! I didn't know there was a turbo available for the '87 924 but I know of a mint '87 cheap that I'm starting to think about differently if this is kosher.

YEAH!! Might have something solid. Paul Hanson from Autobahn is boxing up all his turbo bits and sending them up to me. he says theres enough for a complete turbo except for the seals. i just take what i need and he'll work out a reasonable price later! guddman im a happy man!
cheers
john for the ph no.
mike healy is really helpful, but jsut couldnt help me. he suggested a garrett conversion also! _________________ '86 944 |
