Thanks for the hint about fuel lines, will consider that for sure!
In the meantime, as I was recently super busy traveling all around Europe and Central Asia found 15 minutes for Dyno Run Just wanted to ask how much money I need for that, and when it would be possible to do the pull... But it just appears they got an empty slot, as someone did not appear, so straight from the road...

I suppose not on wheels... not used to reading dyno charts - that’s my first dyno pull ever

My new fuel lines just arrived. Now need to find some time to install these.

It's been a while, right?
So few smaller and bigger things happened - clutch died (damn it's tight to reach all the bolts and studs and nuts)...
Some minor issues with electricity (disappearing dash lightning and cigarette lighter power not working at all).
My fuel rail started to leak (micro cracks). Checked my options and decided to build one by myself. A bit challenging as I wanted to keep the stock pressure regulator in place.
And the story with photos today is about the fuel rail, as it seems this is not a common task to build one from scratch (almost).
A short INTRO.
Seems the leaking/cracking fuel rail in 944/951 is something common, but many times unnoticed. For me it was just a briefly condensation in few places near the "mounts" on the rail and a bit of "glued" dirt below on the cylinder head.
Reading different stories most focus on the fuel lines that needs to be replaced and re-routing them (what I did initially as well).
So initially I tried to repair my fuel rail, but failed. Nor my TIG skills, nor the brass welding skills of the experienced welder that lives nearby helped. It cracked further, it leaked more, the brass did not stick to the fuel rail material...
This was quite odd to me as I was repairing some fuel lines in the 964 and 911 Carrera 3.2 and never had such issues.
Started to investigate a bit and on some forum I found a post where someone was also sharing his bad experience with repairing the fuel rail in 944/951. This lead me to conclusion that these fuel rails must have been made from some melted garbage rather than quality steel.
Check with Porsche if I can buy a new rail (yes I could, but it's costly), but it's the same crap as the one I had - problems again in 20 years or so.
Was looking at the Lindsey fuel rail, but adding an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator and the cost of the total made me build one by myself.
So this is how my prototype looks right now:
I used a 6061 Feul Rail Extrusion from some UK supplier to build that one, some milling skills and a 40 year old Russian universal mill that happened to be in my garage (still under restoration).
Most aftermarket lines use this fuel rail extrusion model, which is good in general (good quality of material). What these don't do is they don't Plug'N'Play.
I wanted something that is more stock'ish, but I did scarify the stock pulsation damper to a simpler one from a Lexus. That way I also got rid ot the infamous elbow line that made some cars burned.
Below a raw extrusion rail, damper and the one with a thread in it (M18x1.5) that ended up in my car.
And some more photos from the work on the mill.
For the rail mount I figured out I need something simple for the prototype. Later I may design something in 3D and make it on CNC. But hey, it works
The last part was build an adapter to attach the stock fuel pressure regulator to the fuel rail extrusion...
I know it looks a bit clunky, but it took me a bit of trial and error to place it in a correct way so no collision occurred in the engine bay. That's another CNC prospect
So what do you think? _________________ ---

Pretty sweet work if it ends up holding pressure and working as intended..
Making stuff is a lot of fun and a lot more satisfying than just buying stuff.. _________________ 80 Turbo - Slightly Modified |

I bought a +50HP chip and banjo bolt some time ago... Carying it in the glove box for over a year or so. Maybe it's time _________________ ---
