I will be making a post about a starter relay soon. If it solves my cars starting problem, then I may just go

I agree. I'm driving to Twickers tomorrow, no reason why you can't come down here in a few weeks. If the car gives you any problems re starting, I'm sure there'll be a few helpful 924 owners around ??

Hot starting problem is solved as follows:
All you have to do is provide with ground to the Cold Start Valve, at the intake manifold, when cranking the engine.
Such thing is done through a ground cable took from the chassis, goes to a button which you can fix just below the steering column in the dash(there is already a hole!!), and then through the firewall to the Cold Start Valve.
If engine does not start normally, then during the cranking you push the button and...Surprise!! It starts.
That is simply to override the Thermo Time switch, that has a no working band when hot, and the fuel system despresurizes itself.
Other brutal way is to throw a bucket of cold water between the firewall and the engine, cooling the bloody Thermo Time switch.I ve done this before installing the cable-button device.
Have luck
Miguel

if your engine isn't turning over at all go to a local auto store get either some 1 or 2 gauge wire nothing smaller and run wires directly from the battery to the starter both neg and pos then take the smaller wires off of starter (with battery disconnected) have either a test light or a volt meter.
now with that wire disconnected and not being held out of the way of any grounded steel reconnect the battery connect the testing light and have someone turn the key if the light comes on the switch is good if light doesn't u are going to have fun finding problem. if it does disconnect battery hook small wire back up and try to strart if nothing fried starter.
that is the easiest way that I have found

getting to the starter is a real bastard in the RHD.

I will pay the garage £200 to replace it (£100 for the starter, 3 hrs labour, HA a bargain). At the same time I will change the starter loom, the battery->starter cable and put in a starter relay...
