Not to rain on your parade or anything, but how do you determine your top speed?
Most people around here say their spedometers are around 5 mph optimistic (which is around 10 km/h), which would unfortunately put you right around 130. . .
Whatever your top speed, we're all rooting for you to represent! Maybe you'd better make your car legal before you start dominating! |
Thats a fair point there !tom, but I think more importantly is the fact that its 10km/h more than the other guys. (assuming all speedo's over read by the same amount)
Personally I've found my speedo over read by about 7 - 10%
anyway. Good Luck Porschev!! |

My conscious won't let me run those springs I want to get a win..but want it to be with in the rules. So I will be swapping those out tomorrow and putting in the stock ones. I have a feeling that it will handle better and loose the push.
As far as the speedo being out...yes you are correct not to mention the fact I am running low profile tires as well. On the other hand I am still up 20 km on the speedo from what I was running last race and the lap times don't lie.
I will try to capture some video as well....whats better car cam or one from the stands? _________________ 1976 924

I have an in-car mount for a camcorder, if you're going that route... obviously can't get it there in time, but maybe for a future race... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Ah well. Normally it would not be worth the effort. However, racin is all about the little incremental stuff. Find a set of 931 springs. They were very slightly stiffer. But it's a stock part. Likewise, there are a couple of larger rear torsion bars. 25 or so. _________________ John

The 931 springs might be just perfect then.....and the 931 sway bar would be as well. I can make a camera mount on my petty bar easy enough for an in car cam. I'll do my best to give you guys a good show and try to do the Porsche 924 name proud. _________________ 1976 924

Vaughan correct me, but I think there is a bunch of old information on the main site about all this stuff?
You don't necessarily want the largest sway bars etc. Although you DO want the stiffest springs and torsion bars you can get to work (together) and then the stiffest antisways then to tune the handling.
So check the website. I think even early 944 springs would work and are a tad stiffer (or not - the 944 was actually no heavier to start than a 24). Find those larger (25mm?) rear torsion bars. And then select from the 14mm, 18mm or 19mm rear anti-sways; all stock. And a couple of different front anti-sways. Also stock.
Regrettably I just threw away some stock late style 944 front upper strut mounts. But those would be useful also. _________________ John

i've mounted a set of 944 (S i think) front springs on the 924 and it was JEEP high..2" between the fender and the 205/60/15 wheels. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits
