How does the front panel (the one with the Porsche emblem) come off?

well speaking from experiance it is tough
first off pull bumper and shocks then take a drill and look for small spots alittle deeper and drill them out top and bottom of where it is spot welded on, and 2 bolts to the fenders. it takes a good 30 min to get all the spots drilled out and it is abit tricky,
if you have a welder you might think about going to a late 944 and cutting out the hood latch section and the header panel (as it just srews on the late style) once you have it out of a donor car just weld it in.
I have never done this and am not 100% positive it will work but I think it should _________________ 3 928s, |

Well that pretty much takes care of that. I'll pass
Another quick question:
The 924S was apparently tapped in the rear. No damage but the bumper is slightly pushed in on one side. Can this be pushed back out or does the shock need to be replaced? _________________ -Stu

you cannot just pull the shock back out but what i would suggest is it is a good time to pull the shocks and drill a hole in them then push them both in give a euro look. push them in the weld them at 3.25 or 3.5 inches they look the best there apperantly _________________ 3 928s, |

Wouldn't it be easier just to hit the other side
I assume from your response that the shock must be replaced. Yes/No? _________________ -Stu

yes the shock would need to be replaced but you could always just back into a wall at 5mph, make sure you are straight _________________ 3 928s, |

Speaking from experience?
You've never done this?

Let me tell ya all, I`ve removed the header off of a 77 I stripped. It is a pain in the ass drilling out all the spot welds and spotting them too. |

Ok, looks like I'll opt for the replacement route
How difficult is it to replace the shock. Is this an easy job using common tools? There is a pair on ebay for $36, is this a fair price?
Thanks for any assistance. _________________ -Stu

OK, speaking from EXPERIENCE, yes you can pop the shocks back out - they often get jammed in an assymetric impact. Well, I guess often being relative to how often to back into things!
All you need is the spreader jaws on a porta-power, and make sure you brace against the base of the shock, not the sheetmetal on the body, or there's a pretty good chance you'll rip the can. Takes about 5 minutes, no disassembly necessary. _________________ Vaughan Scott

does it loose any of its stability from doing this, although as they are only 5mph shocks it probably wont matter right _________________ 3 928s, |
