Anyone here have the Production D kit from GT-racing? I can't seem to find the rear fenders in their catalog, only the front fenders and nose/bumper piece.
Anyone got pics?
Thanks |

The part number is 260r. Description is: 924 GT Racer rear fender flares $175.95 fiberglass $237.95 carbon fiber
"These flares were used on the early 924 for SCCA/Club racing"
From page 28 of the old catalog. |

The DP body is growing on me. I like the narrow body with DP flares.
I love the look of the 931 with the wheels/tires from my 951. I just changes the look of the car. Imagine a subtle fare with even wider wheels/tires! |

| Trying to decide whether to go GT or the Prod D. The Prod D. looks more 924ish. I like the GT, loks more 944ish but don't want the stigma of being a "poser" since they are rare and cool cars. Dunno yet. |

Yea dont want to carry around the poser image Depends on what circles you travel in though really.. Heres a link that
http://www.924.org/models/924D933.htm
shows what your talken about maybe itll help
I suppose a gey could make this stuff himself
I suppose theres parts out there for the body
I like the style of the white red and yellow #1 car the most rthe front end and slight rear flares are quite cool as well as the
height of the car |

I think the Prod D. maybe a little too racecar looking for the road but think I will go for that since I hopefully won't get confused w/ the 944. Still get the GTS lights though....maybe the scoop..
So no one has this on their road car???? |

Don't go the GTS way for lights if you plan on doing a lot of night driving outside of town.
I had the GTS looks for a few years on my GT replica and ended up going back to pop up headlights as they were useless for night driving. After a year whenever I went away and was plannign night driving, I used to put a set of Cibie Super Oscars on the car.
I've still got the GTS units and these are mounted in the dedicated 931 race car - this currently has the GT flares at the back and flared front guards similar to the Prod D car.

"like the GT, looks more 944ish but don't want the stigma of being a "poser" since they are rare and cool cars. Dunno yet."
The only way your being a "poser" is if your working a up a non turbo for the look.
The turbo car to a gt is a natural progression and was a factory special order "upgrade" for those with the money.
If Porsche sold the original GT parts, who do you think the market was for, generally not the 924NA and the GT already had it.
And to be correct the 944 is trying to look like a 924GT aka 937, in this case the GT was in production before the 944.
The GT is really a test mule and advertising ploy to launch the 944 series as well as sell the 924 series. The GT is the height of Porsche street cars for the era. (The GTS could be considered too but the numbers in production limit it to a special order model and not a production series car.) Of course not having the GT a world wide production car also makes me almost consider it a special order, but the truth is if the GT had been sold in the US the 944 wouldn't have had a good initial launch. Why buy a car with less HP and no racing heritage, when you could have a boostable turbo car with the wide body look.
Even as pricey as they were I bet that PCNA would have sold three times the amount here as they did in europe. Can you imagine 2000 total GTs out there and 1500 of them in the US.
The 86 944T then took over and the 951 went through another stage of development and was finalized in the 87 models. From then on there aren't really any major changes other HP increases until the 968.
As a matter of fact everthing 4cyl until the 968 benefitted from the 931 development.
The GTS was the prototype for the 951 in design...

When I talked about being a poser, for example a person w/ a Ferrari 308 turning the body into a 288GTO. Just meant Porsche people only, might not aprreciate it..if that makes sense.
As for saying theGT is 944ish. I understand that it came before the 944 and understand the role it played. What I meant was to "normal" people it looks like a 944.
Does that make sense? |

I think for the Porsche crowd, half will think it is a 944 with a scoop at first, unless you really use the rear flares. You know really to the Porsche crowd I bet they all know what a GT looks like. And a good portion will be interested to see if it is the real thing or even close.
I don't get any response really about the turbo but I don't ask about the 914s or 944, so it goes both ways.
