Guys,
I've just used my GT's intercooler for a pattern and made a intercoler for the series II 931's - We still testing it to make sure brackets etc are strong enough fro race use. If anyone is interested I can make a few more. Cost is around US$500 (plus old charge tube in exchange - needed for the mounting points) and is complete ready to bolt in place of the standard charge tube.
All you have to do is remove the old charge tube bolt the intercooler in place and screw teh over boost switch and the waste gate line on and you're away - basically a 30 minute job.
to view the prototype vist the following link. http://communities.msn.co.nz/924CarreraGTInfoSite/intercoolers.msnw?Page=Last |

John, nice pics. Looks like a very professional job. Let us know when you fabricate an intercooler for the SERIES I 931. I would be interested in that.

I can do a intercooler for a Series I no problems - but I need a Series I charge tube - most of the Turbo's here in New Zealand are series II's and till I find aseries I tube I'm not sure of the junction to the throttle body.

Ever start reading the Performance Upgrades section from the earliest post forward? Amazing what you'll find. Too bad these photos are lost. John, what are the chances you have these archived somewhere? _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Still deciding what to do here myself... I do have that scoop... but that's more work than a FMIC, and possibly not as efficient... decisions decisions... _________________ Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about Porsche!

pocket, you should pioneer a nice 2.25" front mount intercooler setup...
Possibly at the start of school I can pick up a "universal" pipe kit and see if I can fit a front mount up front. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

I "invented" a new implementation of the 951 IC install as FMIC. It addresses the crappy end tank problem and doesn't require cutting up the whole front end.

Here's first pics of my reworked 951 intercooler. It's for my red 924 that got whites turbocharged Euro NA engine but I didn't feel like cutting the well painted body.
It fits right in the opening of the front chin and end tank clears the rad if you move stock rad app. 40mm to the pass. side. Easy enough to do.
Outgoing hose points upwards and needs a hole to be drilled in the panel near hood lock but that's a minor effort compared to removing the badge panel.
I sawed off the crappy end tank and sawed the better end-tank off the other 951 intercooler I have (I have two more because I plan using the cores for one big intercooler).

Clever!
But Raceboy, you know you're not going to get away without showing in-car pix... _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I'll do that as soon as it's in the car. Hopefully it'll happen next week because I have to get the engine in first (and head is in works now). _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp
