Does anyone know where to find good Fuchs that would fit a 924? I know they made them in 16x8, but did they make any 16x7-8" wheels that would fit a 924(with 5 bolts)

I have a set of Fuchs 6x16, so I'm sure they made 7x16's too. Don't know where you might find them. I got mine about 6 years ago from a place in or near Chicago - had a German sounding name - Stuttgart something... I have pics of mine on my website.
The backspacing was different between stock and the Fuchs that I put on - this is mentioned on the website. With the stock '82 931 suspension, the tires rubbed in front. I installed stiffer springs and a thicker stabilizer bar - that eliminated the rubs.

| Okay, I am hoping to get 16X8s. I have seen them in the auto atlanta catalogue, in 16x6-9"... I want 7s on the front and 8s on the back... Yes, I am aware of what they cost, I just want to know if there are any 7s or 8s with the correct offset... |

Cbass,
I just bought a set that I'm using on my 931 that were on an older 911 and fit perfectly.
They're 7x15's. They're on Ebay all the time. I think 'cookie cutters' are a better deal.

Do you know which 911 they came off of? The 930 had 16x8s on the back, and probably 16x7s on the front.
[edit] Found these on Ebay... They are off a 911, I'm not sure which, but they a 16x7 and 16x8, about $700 with tires. I'm not sure what the offset is, but the wheels look much deeper than yours Dwak.
Part # is 911361020

You think they would fit? I did a little digging, and found out they did make a run of late offset Fuchs, for the 911 speedster! Right up until '89...

No good, the speedster wheels were early offset... I do know they made early 911 wheels in 16" though, so it's just a matter of tracking them down...
Hey Dwak, could you find the part# for you wheels? |

So the 944 Fuch alloys 15 inch will not fit 924? 911s will? Why do the cookie cutters fit and not the Fuch alloys? Would they have changed the offset that much?

Cookie cutters do not fit. They stick out. If your suspension is hard enough, they won't rub. The only thing you need to know to make the rims fit is offset (and of course width). 924 5-bolt rims should all be around 52.3mm. Anything that is much lower (like 23.3mm) won't fit unless it is very narrow. Anything that is higher (like 65mm) will require spacers.

Cbass,
The specs fro those wheels are
Offset 23.2mm for the 7 inch and 10.6 mm for the 8 inch
The wheels were fitted to 86 onward 944’s, 1978 onwards 911’s, and the 7 inch were winter rims for the 930.
On the 7 inch the distance from the mounting face to the inside face is 112 mm. From the mounting face to and from the road side face is 66 mm.
On the 8 inch the distance from the mounting face to the inside face is 112 mm. From the mounting face to and from the road side face is 91 mm.
For the normal 924 wheel (part number 477 601 031 14x 6 eight spoke rim) the dimensions are:
the distance from the mounting face to the inside face is 96.4 mm. From the mounting face to and from the road side face is 56 mm.
So the rims should and have clearance to the inner fender but marginal to the outside fender.
I ran the 6 inch by 16 fuch wheels on my 924 turbo for a while. Note 6, 7 and 8 inch x 16 all have the same first 9 numbers in the part number the last 2 number of the 11 digit number tells you what the wheel is
97 =6 inch unvarnished, 43 = 6 inch black star and polished rim, 98 = 7 inch unvarnished, 44 = 7inch black star polished rim, 99 = 8 inch, 45 = black star polished rim.
The 6 x 16 with 215/55 x 16 fitted nicely and looked really good. However under racing conditions ( or really hard driving I ended up cooking the paint on the front fenders tire rubbed under extreme cornerign and on a tight track this eventual resulted in slight bubbling of the paint.
Never tried the 7 inch rims and when I went the GT route I had plenty of clearance

I've always been under the impression that a 215 would be best suited to an 8" wheel. It worked really well?
I would like a 16", because it's getting hard to find a good 15" performance tire...
