Can someone tell me what bar this is..7kp/cm^2.
At 80 to 100 deg C oil temperature and 5500RPM, the pressure should be not less than 7kp/cm^2.
A slight drop in oil pressure is normal under certain operating conditions such as prolonged highway driving in hot weather.
be for a stock 10 bar guage on a na car. When I start it its up there 2.5 then after it warms up it goes down to 1 and when its under throttle it goes up a bit. I replaced the sender when I had the head off I havent added a second ground wire its grounded just on the guage.Next Ill replace the spring in the oil pump. I think I have low oil pressure especially after it warms up
Ive taken off the oil cap when its runnen and the cams swimmen in a oil bath it even spurts out of the cap hole. So I need to know what bar reading 7 kp/cm^2 is.

| I've got about the same readings, I've just assumed that they are normal and moved on. |

| I've only had my car for 2 weeks and nothing has led me to believe that there is a problem so I haven't really made it a priority to look into it yet. If you find anything out please let me know. |

| Joe, a bar is short for barometric atmospheric pressure of air at sea level. It's a metric thing. In the USA, we rate air pressure at about 15 PSI. So one bar is 15 PSI, and 7 would be 105 PSI. My guages are not all that good either, but I know that my main and rod bearings ar in good shape. At freeway speeds with no accesories on mine reads about 5 to 6 bar. When hot at idle I am at one bar. In american cars idle PSI seems to be about 10 PSI. Normal oil pressure is about 50 PSI. So your car and mine is healthy enough. I usually have 15/50 dino oil. |

My car reads 6-8 kp/cm^2 cold from 1,500 rpm's up and at idle hot can go down to 2 kp/cm^2. I use 20W50 Castrol with Wix filters. I've debated putting a BAR gauge I have here in it to compare but I have other things to do.

I've heard from our Euro readers that the mentioned reading is close to but not identical to bar. I believe the conversion is 1 kp/cm^2 = 0.98 bar. The numbers you mention sound fine, no worries.

If my car used 1.5 quarts in 600 miles I'd be tearing it down.

I have to disagree a little bit on this one with 924RACR
Pressure should be around 4-5 bar when cold, and around 2 when warmed up at idle. Under throttle it should go up 5 and above. This is how I know it and how it is in my car. |

Yeah, but it runs higher than that cold, and lower when really hot. Remember, in the owner's manual it's OK if the oil light flickers (about 0.5 bar) as long as it goes away when you rev the motor. That's why I installed an oil cooler on the racecar.

OK, well yes, that's certainly the first place to start; make sure the gauge is reading correctly, replace the sender if necessary...
