Dude, now is the time to invest in the factory manual. If you're rebuilding a trans, it's the only way to go. You should check first to make sure, however, that the trans rebuild for the one you have is in fact covered in the 944 manuals - I have a feeling it might be covered in the 931 manual.
That's way too complex a task to trust to the Haynes manual.

Dave. How much are you going to spend on the rebuild? I can get you a 924S transmission for $450 plus ship. Ship cost from Mass to Cal is Approx $90. If you are closer to mass it is likely less. The transmission only had 56K miles on it before the engine had a fire and thus retired the car.
Bearings, syncros, gear set will run you way more than the cost of this transmission. Let me know if you are interested. It is going to move now since the shop has come way down in the price.

Eric's quite right, you can expect to spend at least 500 on parts for the rebuild.
However, for the manual, I think you're looking at the wrong one. You're looking at 924 manual prices. You have a 924S. Totally different beast, different drivetrain. Besides, I bought my 924 manual set new for under $300 retail - from Paragon.

Im not sure On what I am going to do yet. Its not that the Trans needs a rebuilt but for some reason the passenger side output shaft is sitting in the transmission croket. It makes the seal leak and makes funny sounds. SO I was hoping I would be able to look in a book or at a Picture so I can tell what is wrong. Its weird, The trans in my car only has 75,000 miles on it so it shouldnt need a rebuild. Im thinking its a bearing or something that is bad. I am going to take it out on Friday and I will let you guys know. THANX

Worn differential bearings is a very common problem in these trannys. Not that bad to replace after pulling the trans. I have to do it on both the racecar and the turbo. 2 bearings, 2 seals, and one huge o-ring to seal the diff cover.

Has the axle ever been removed?I removed both sides on mine to replace the gas tank, and the flexible joint assembly came apart.I evidently put it together wrong the first time, since it was really stiff and bound up at points in its rotation. There's a certain way they have to be re-assembled,though I couldn't tell you what it is.Good luck,Keith.

Peter-
The CD that I have seen is a scanned copy of the manuals in pdf format.

Well, I got the Trans out and there is some Major damage. For some reason the differental gear set up has cracked in half
Im not sue what could have caused it but Im am going to bring it to a Trans shop and see what they think. Thanx for the Help and depending on the price of the Repair I might just put a new trans in but we will see.
