Has anyone painted their phone dials black? I was thinking about this but wasn't sure if it looked dumb

Some nice "split" 5 spoke wheels or the "Y" style spokes from BBS might not look too bad in black. I think black phone dials would look like you salvaged 'em from a burnt up 924!

Now if you went black / silver or black / chrome that might not be so bad. I dunno. Paint 'em pink for all I care!

I did see a 944 featured in one of my "911 & Porsche World" magazines that had the teledials powdercoated in black. What made them stand out was how the painter kept the outer edge/lip of the wheels silver. Looked like maybe the outer 3/4" or so.

I'll see if I can find the pic and scan it in for you.

I've seen a few. Not too impressed really. Like someone else said, they look burned up.

What color is your car?

I've just painted some in a very dark grey (Graphite). Look OK to me. On a white car with black trim they're alright (well I think so)

I'll post some pics soon as available as I've not taken any since fitting them.

Phil

I painted mine black last week and just had Toyo RA1's installed. I'll get a photo in a day or two, might be longer if they don't get the power back on at my house (damn you Ivan, I have an X-cross to get ready for on Sunday).

I'm selling an old 7x15 that I painted in the same colour as a try-out before doing all the the others. You can see what it looks like on ebay...

hope that helps.... Phil

I'm not posting this to try and sell the wheel to the forum, but I can't find any other way of linking you all to a picture (I don't have my own website).

have you ever thought about white dial phones like the original cup car. the white on red looks great imho. if anything, just spray them and if you dont like em, try something else, there isnt any harm in that! good luck

I am in the process of getting a third set of wheels, I might try the white and see what it looks like. If I do, I'll post pics.
