Anyone of the northeast folks going to be at Lime Rock 6/25-26 (Metro) or Pocono 7/2 (NNJR)? I'm registered for Lime Rock, and am considering going down to Pocono for just the one day - Hope to see some more of the svelt variety of front-engine cars -

I was just at Pocono in May with our two 924's for an SCCA event. We had a tough go of it and I don't think were going back to Pocono. We blew a head gasket on one car and blew a motor on the other car. Pocono is not the right track for our 2.0 lt cars. Lime Rock is too far for me.

We usually sell out early. Unless you've already applied and recived an acceptance I doubt you'll get in, unless you're an instructor. You can always give the track chair an e-mail and see if he can fit you in.

go here: http://www.nnjr-pca.com/site/

always enjoy seeing another 924S.

Unfortunately I'm not a member of PCA and I only can afford to run SCCA and NASA 944 Cup, GTS Challenge.

Sounds like it's going to be a hoot. If you are using the entire course clockwise, with the NASCAR pit entrance as your turn one into the infield section, it's a blast! A bit challenging in the rain but a lot of room to pass. Kind of like turn one at Burke-Lakefront airport in Cleveland. SCCA runs that course with the jug handle at the other end of the long pond straight just prior to entering the "bowl" when they run it clockwise. That's a blast too. Otherwise we hate Pocono because it just chews up smaller engines. We ran a lot of redline on the majority of the straights. It took it's toll on the one engine, major bummer.

I run a 2.0. Our car can be seen on the front page of our site. Mine is #53 seam foam and white. Dad and I also run a second car #35 same colors but inverted.

Our July 4th event is traditionally a three day affair. With Friday being Ladies Day and URG only on the North course.

(always clockwise)

Saturday we run the double infield, entrance to the North infield right at pit out (pit in for the NASCAR boys) and the South infield off of the Long Pond straight (we don't include the hiarpin in the South infield)

Sunday morning we'll again do the double infield and after lunch the "Bowl" or old IMSA course. Most felt it was the banked turn on the South end tearing up the motors so we compromise for those that must get their time in on the banking.

for those interested check out the NNJR web site http://www.nnjr-pca.com/site/ for our Fall Pocono event. We're reviving "Porscherama" DE's on both the North and South courses an Auto-X on the East course concours on the front straight and a Rally to the dinner at Split Rock resort. The only thing were missing is a race but we may include time trials on Sunday

as far as not being a PCA member $42.00 is barely dinner at McDonalds for the family. Come on and join the fun I need more 924's to play with.

I think Jeremy was referring more to the race entry fees? Heck, if you want more 924's to play with, come play with us in NASA!!!

I should've also mentioned - if you want to play with the fast 924's, we're going to be at Mid-O in August! Aug 20-22, GTS Challenge/NASA

Me (ITA/GTS1)
Jeremy (ITA/GTS1)
Ryoji (ITA/GTS1)
Dan Davis (I Stock/GTS2 924S)
Christian Cook (ITS/GTS2 924S)
John Brown - maybe?

Your car, being an I Stock PCA car, would be eligible to run in GTS1 with us if you choose.

Should be a couple of Bimmers for us to kick around in GTS1 as well.

Sounds like Apex Performance will likely be there supporting; with a little luck and a lotta guilt, we might be able to convince Clark into bringing out his 933? Well, OK, farfetched, he's more likely to bring his 968, I think.

There's going to be a whole mess of waterpumpers there, and some hella fast Bimmers...

Come on, join the party!!!

Commited to the Potomac Club Race that weekend.

My car doesn't even qualify under "Potomac Stock" as an I class car, numerous poorly thought out and planned modifications have left me in an undesireable classing as far as PCA is concerned.

for GTS Challenge do you run based on your declared class in PCA/SCCA or is there a way to class a car based on modifications.

for example "someone" was dumb enough to put fiberglass 924GT rear flares on their car which according to PCA puts him in GT4, how would you class that car?

for those not on the East Coast

"Potomac Stock" = a highly modified car that is in no way stock BUT it's owner swears is absolutely showroom stock. Not sure of the origin of the term or why it refers to the venerable Potomac region.

I know you're lurking here DD, just kidding

LOL! Bummer 'bout that. As for us - GTS classes are power/weight based ONLY:
http://www.gtschallenge.com/2004rules.htm

Specifically, the weight (with driver)/RWHP as raced is what determines the class. If your engine is stock, we can expect it's not making any more than stock - 150hp IIRC? In order to remain in GTS1, your lb/rwhp ratio must be at least 21 (if not higher), meaning a weight (again, with you in it) of at least 2688b lbs (assuming output of 150hp at the crank = 128rwhp estimated). If you're lighter than this, you'll probably need to be in GTS2.

However, I'd doubt your car is that light, unless you're really stripped it down. Mind you, you also have the option of ballasting it up (your choice of ballast, flywheels etc. are popular, they don't even need to be Porsche flywheels!) to that weight (again, with driver) you can still play with us in GTS1! That's the beauty of our formula!

Of course, if I were to change your mind and convince you that you'd have more fun out here playing with us, John Brown might just stay home out of spite!

Believe me, if I could make it I would. Prior commitment to work the Clubrace here.

Out running in the rain today at FATT. New discs, new drums, new bearings all around. Ran on the Summitomos just to break in.

Whoa, look what I started...

I'm registered for the Metro Lime Rock event, not yet for the one at Pocono.

I enjoy running the North course at Pocono, but I have to confess that I don't find droning down the long straights at the full Pocono course in a low horsepower car all that thrilling, especially with 996TT's, GT3's, etc for company. What I really like is a track with fast, challenging turns and interesting elevation changes. Lime Rock, in addition to being just an hour and a half away, fits the bill and suits my car well. I have to say though my favorite track is Mont Tremblant. Tremblant is just *great*.

I instruct, and a week or two ago the NNJR registrar said there'll be room on Friday for instructors so I'm trying to arrange to go. Still hope to see some other 924 series cars -

Matt
