This past weekend we got a lot done on the new car. We painted it two colors plus shot a coat of clear. Installed the freshly painted bumbers, seat, welded a quick release device for the steering wheel, installed a back seat brace, painted the roll cage, put the rear hatch on the car and installed all the mirrors.
It's coming together nicely. We also made a new folding door to also act as our ramp to drive the cars into the horse hauler. We think it will work. We also layed down a new floor for the interior of the truck.
Inching closer...

It's time I guess for another update! Were really getting close to the finish line! We've painted the car, set up the suspension, installed the seat, belts, rollbar padding, gauges, quick release steering wheel, fire bottle, door bar on the drivers side and applied 3/4 of the decals, installed mirrors, front strut brace and that's pretty much the extent of it.
We still need to install the new header, and exhaust pipe, custom bushings for the front sway bar, and a bunch of other little projects but it should be done later this week.
Today we decided to do our first "shake down". We took it down the road to a local business park on a back street with no traffic and a dead end. We quickly found out that we had a fuel injection problem with two of the four injectors clogged. We got back to the shop and ran a test and replaced one of them and they seemed to be flowing better. We also found out that the valve cover was spraying oil. Either that or that darn dip stick is leaking oil again.
Then we went back out and made a couple of run bys when the local police spotted us and before I got the car to a halt I had two cars boxing me in. The one officer spotted me "fish tailing" and "weaving" down this road. I didn't have the balls to tell him I was heat cycling my brand new Hankooks Well the two cops went back to the car and made a quick phone call with my liscense in hand and came back about five minutes later and told us to drive directly back to the shop and don't take it out again! They didn't have to let us go and could have probably arrested me on the spot. I think the cop frankly didn't want to spend the next 45 minutes writing me up. Since we counted at least 10 broken laws. Oh well. They all know that we have the cars at the shop and they recognized my father as a local businessman so I guess they figurered since we were not on a with other traffic or pedestrians crossing, it wasn't all that bad.
We also have been making progress on our two car hauler. We had to cut the back off the horse truck and that now doubles as part of our ramp to unload the cars. We got both inside with the door closed but since the cars are two feet longer that the enclosed trailer we have to raise the rear wheels of the first car to make them fit. It's quite a site to see!
That's it for now, the goal is to have the truck ready by May 15th for the cars first event. |

Good show JJ.
I've spent the day installing the driveshaft, transmission, right side engine mount, and the engine vibration damper. Doesn't sound like much for a whole day's work does it? Oh well. And now it looks as if the rain is going to shut me down for the rest of the week.
Had hoped to run the car next weekend during the HPDC at Jefferson. _________________ John

Good work...
Not much going on here, other than taking pictures and trying to get over my cold... added pics of my interior net to my webpage (link is close to the top, Safety Features)... also spending time rewiring, have to get my compressor plugged in... still waiting for my Raceware rod nuts and bolts from EBS, not sure what happened to them, been a while on order... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Ran the car for about 15 minutes last Saturday. Seems to be fixed. Could not try for more as had not gotten the exhaust completed and the fumes were about to asphyxiate me!
So, we assume it's working now. New bushings on the front suspension and finish the exhaust and we're good to go!! _________________ John

I posted those pics here. k
Its a turbo nice the yellow on the hood sides looks good. the 914
nice bodywork.
Both these color choices are nice and the schemes really nice. A 2 tone
924 looks sharp.
two tone has good lines.
Rear wheel height looks good.. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na
