Found these thumps on the internet.
http://www.savinglots.com/lotprod.asp?item=T8572
then saw them in a shop here, for
$4.00 less so I bought them.
I still
need a 2 channel amp and
a set of 4x6 or 6x9 thumps on the rear panels.

I was wondering how you were opening your doors since you don't have any exterior handles....neat trick, string! |

Right where that yellow covered cover is
next to the window crank there is a factory
hole there..The door panels are from a 87 924S.
The 6x9s will go in the rear side speaker pockets. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

The speakers won't interfer with the window mechanism then?
Interesting... When I finished working on the breaks, the body, the hatch, the shift assembly...
Regards

And if you're playing Yanni through them at full blast, they ALL sound like crap! (My apologies to the Yanni fans out there....both of them.) |

Joe: if you're looking for really good-sounding speakers and if they don't HAVE to be yellow (which you wouldn't see through the grilles anyways), check out Clarion's 4x6 replacement panel speakers. I have them installed in the factory rear locations, and they sound better than any regular 4x6s I've ever heard. These speakers also have a thinner mounting depth than regular 4x6s.
http://www.clarion.com/pwrsys/powersys04.htm
As u can see, these have a 3.5" round aluminum woofer and a 1" dome tweeter. Yes, they cost more than your yellow set, but hey, ya get what you pay for!
Incidentally, the $150US MSRP is NOT what they are going for now; I bought mine for $100CDN at a local retailer. _________________ '80 931 FOR SALE

did you have to do any modifications to get the 6x9s to fit in the rear, and in the picture is that what it will look like when finished, oh a sujestion for subs is build custom bow using fiber glass to fit where the back seat goes this will alow almost any size my friend is doing it for his 944, or fit boxes into the spaces behind the rear wheel wells im still working on it for my car with two 10s or 12s _________________ '78 924 |

The ones I first posted with my cat whos called ' Buff 'are the 5x7 that I hope to get in the doors up front.
Im gonna sound proof the area behind the side wall with
a enclosure of some kind up against the outer skin and then to get the 6x9 in theres gonna have to be made a template of the speaker used as a spacer to get the speaker to sit right. If you look the hole is way to small to sit flush
theres lots of speakers out there the thumps will work for the doors
and rear panels and sound 'ok' I hope
these Thump Series by Mobile
Authority T8696 6 x 9” 3-Way
are the ones I get for x-mas
& then some bass in boxes
along with an amp later on.. to bring home some sound.
whether its rock, classic rock, some hard metal , newcountry
or even some oldies rock.
Im saving & looking for used early 44 foglite lens also
so pm me anybody. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

What is the mounting depth of the 5x7's that you have? The factory door holes only fit 4x6" with a mounting depth of 1 3/4". The window rails get in the way for anything deeper. Plus unless you have a 924s/944 doors you don't have a hole for speakers in the door anyway. Jus t a few things to think about. |
