Decision time and I would appreciate some opinions.

With the car back from the paint shop, I must now decide whether or not I want to replace the "924" decal or use one of the old style "924" metal emblems (I have the emblem and the grommets). I also have the choice of using either a solid "924" decal or the outline type "924" decal.

I'm not really keen on drilling holes in the car but I think the metal emblem would really look nice.

Also, my decal replacements came with a label that says "warning radio equipped with theft deterrent system". Was this original to the car and if so, where was it displayed?

Thanks for any input.

if it's a 924S, I'd say get the raised metal one, and then get the 'S' from a C4S or a Boxster S (yes, they are sold seperately) and put that on after it. I've been thinkin 'bout that idea for a while. not to mention, I think that metal one isn't exactly metal, and it may be rubber like the newer ones they use, and it sticks on with double sided tape. the S does if you are gonna do that. well, glad you like it

Which one? Solid or Outline?

If it makes any difference, the car originally had the outline type decal.

The Boxster "S"only comes in Silver. The C4S badge would be huge compared to the old 924 emblem. Also the fonts are worlds apart. It brings to mind that silly little Corolla you see driving around with that odd red S on the back (what was Toyota thinking). I would go for the decal the 924 badge looks very dated. I vote for the 924S decal w/o the "S" Outline.

i have the old-style crest gold badge off my front panel. im going to get it stripped back, take off the enamel red and black paint and get it painted silver with black enamel. imho the emblem type badge for the rear is alot classier. the stickers look like a last minute after thought

You wouldn't need to drill holes in order to use the 924 emblem. I added one to my old N/A without drilling. I just dremmeled off the pins on the back of the emblem and used 3M emblem tape (really thin double stick foam). I traced the emblem onto the tape and used an exacto knife to cut it out. I never had any problems with it.

Put the drill down.

Ummm...no. It would be a little bigger, and the boxster's 'S' comes in black and silver. I know, cuz I moved them around a LOT when working in Parts at a porsche dealership. I know what I'm talkin about.

Find me a Boxster S with black emblems and I will buy it for you

The "S" is Silver only because the Boxster S only comes badged in Silver.

The word Boxster can be ordered in Black, But the "S" cannot.

When I did the repaint 2 years ago, I took a photo of the original to the sign maker / Vinyl shop and had a new one fabed black / solid and it looks "factory" enough to fool purists for the grand total of $2.00 per copy.
i did this because the original from Porsche was no longer available. The fun one was finding the "Porsche" that goes over the bumper on the body. I think I wound up paying about $68 for that from the dealer. OOPS.
Anyway, I hope to have some photos to post soon as I am waiting for my brother to email them to me as my didital isn't taking clear pics. I am always behind the 8 ball with the techno stuff....
Good Luck!

Well, after much consideration I have decided (at least initially) to go with the "outline" 924 that was originally on the car.

All of the options would have looked great. Thanks for all the input.

The "PORSCHE" decal above the bumper between the tail lights is available on eBay from time to time. Cost is usually less than $20 plus shipping. Available in black or silver, I think.
