Thank you Porsche Classic! 931 603 119 01 is the rubber bushing for the pivot mounting point on the 931 alternator, used to be NLA, two required, looks like it is once again available from the dealer!!
Have ordered up a pair, Silver Spring Porsche had a great price at $23 each... I think that's who I got my dash from...
Slowly but surely these cars are once again starting to be able to be restored, instead of just held together with baling wire, duct tape and prayers... _________________ Vaughan Scott

So how does one know when those bushings are going bad? _________________ 1981 Porsche 931 w/S1 engine & euro g31 transaxle. Water-cooled intercooler |

Have you shared that file to the Porsche Printed Parts database? I'd have made those already if it were an option... mine is loose on the mountings, I used a slip of rubber hose to fill the gap but of course that didn't last either, so it's loose on the mountings... _________________ Vaughan Scott

I don't know if the 931 and NA 924 bushings are the same but the NA ones don't last long. On my race car I've made some metal ones on my lathe to keep the alternator pulley in line with the crank and water pump pulleys. PITA. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car H-Prod SCCA

Might have been made by the same black cheese material, back in the days i bought new ones from Porsche for my NA aswell, they also went shite quite quickly, causing sloppy belt and pulley misalignment, i think the complete alternator mounting is worse on the na though. If i still had one i would make something different:) _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

I bet that would make some noise. Luckily that hasn't happened yet.
The rear bushing is looking squished. But maybe that's just the way it looks because there are two bushings there?
Hard to tell what's going on with the front bushing.
Probably something cheap to replace before it becomes a problem? Easy enough to get to. _________________ 1981 Porsche 931 w/S1 engine & euro g31 transaxle. Water-cooled intercooler

Looking at the parts diagram...at the pivot point....the front bushing is #12 93160311700 and the rear has two bushings #19 93160311901.
Then there's another #12 bushing on the alternator adjusting bracket.

Oh damn, missed the front one... and that's even more, $35 at the dealer!
OK well next time... will see how the new rear ones work for me first, I think, as those were really destroyed, the fronts not as bad... and maybe I decide that printed is a better way forward from here... if we can find files, or make some up?
Evidently I need to be sure to take measurements of the new parts before I install and wear them out!! _________________ Vaughan Scott
