Hi All,
I am wanting to replace the engine and gearbox mounts on my 77 race car (with getrag gearbox). The standard mounts are totally flogged out to the point where I am now missing gears occasionally (definitely NOT my driving ability
I am aware of the vibra technics engine mounts though I can't find anything for the gearbox. Looking at the existing mounts it looks very easy to weld in some 3mm plate once the rubber is removed and convert them to solid however I am concerned with cracking the gearbox casing, especially is there is some give with the engine mounts but not the gear box mounts.
Thankyou in advance for your suggestions!

Hi Daniel
Can't really answer your question re the gearbox mounts. I simply ran what was there, albeit new ones at the time. For the engine, at the time we simply filled them with mastic until more recently when the vibra technics became available.
Wasn't 'Kondzi' (Konrad) from Poland, here on the Board, making alloy gearbox mounts? Do a search.
Incidentally, after 30 years my 932 is going back to a road car and I have available some of those English engine mounts.
Also ask the question on the Facebook forum

I filled my gearbox mounts up with polyurethane. It isn’t adhered but it stays in and seem to do the job.
The engine and gearbox are basically one huge solid unit because of the torque tube so not sure solid mounts would ever be an option really. |
