Work in progress on the Innovate Gauge on right side. You can also see I took out the lower section cutout fillet so it looks more period correct to the dashboard

Also thinking the gauge needs to go in farther still. That bezel is big!

Edit: You can see the VDO to Innovate difference from Left to Right. Hole size for rear of gauges is the same!

Thank you! I adjusted this since the last post to set the Innovate gauge deeper and adding oring spacer(s) that could go into the bores so you could adjust the gauges in or out to match face depth between different gauge brands

Then I had a cold this past week which had me sitting in front of my computer a lot this weekend playing around with a Single Pod panel idea with the thought that maybe someone would just want a clock only option.

Six versions so far but I am learning that the simple versions seem to look best. Also to your request Morghen, I might just make the symmetrical dual version from this single pod idea. At least start here

Turned out pretty cool for the discerning 924 owner. Using same idea now for two in this straight config

Looks great, the single gauge definitely needs a boost gauge, not sure something else would fit as good there

Yeah but even with the clock, its in the style of the “chrono package” Porsche offers. I quite like it, can you print one in brown? Or perhaps i could paint it.
Next question would be if you can replicate the original stripes in some neat way.

I was thinking of the single chrono type package when I did it

Boost gauge for the 931 and supercharged guys but for the 924NA or 924S maybe they want something else?

Morghen, I will keep playing around with it and see what is possible line wise. I was also just informed my SLS connection has a new white "dye-able" powder. The print quality is insane already in black. Will post a pic of an example print

There is a dual version already happening along these lines as well but I will be away for a long weekend so there will be a slight break in progress. What I really need to switch back to is the cylinder head!!!!

To think, all of this started because I needed an Innovate gauge pod for the '82. Speaking of which I just started the full exhaust project but that should be quick. I have almost everything I need

Little more traditional in appearance along the lines of the center console(s)

I guess you could try a version with the symmetric geometry but just tilted gauge? Like just that inner ring that supports the gauge tilted...for who ever prefers that but would like a symmetrical looking outer surface.
But i really like that one dial version, i'll have one and paint it brown once you get it to match the original horizontal lines.

My modified center console is covered in vinyl, not a perfect match to the dash but it blends in somewhat and it was easy to do, though harder on these ones

Ahh I get what you mean now Morghen. I'll keep playing around since it seems I am having fun with this when I am away from the car and can't do anything else constructive

Cedric, I'll try one at some point plus your plasti-dip idea but I think you are totally right it just might be to difficult

Then I can start "Mikes House of Gauge Pods Emporium" with all my options

A friend of mine has the first version in a 924S he bought for his son recently. I'll post a pic in another section once I get it uploaded. Car is beyond cool.

This GTS console has continued to be my most time consuming side project of the past 5 years but I think we are finally near the end. Design tweaks, printer tweaks, etc. This last print was not perfect but close.

Turns out the upper two mount holes I has been using either lost their clips or something else. I finally changed my thinking, got a 4mm tap and threaded the two holes. Man does this make it easier than trying to use torx or phillips type screws. Need to get some large washers on them to spread the load. Now they are easy to install, leaving the gauges to be the only real pain in the butt.

Printed in a way that hides the fact its printed from the eyes once mounted. Still need to try coating to match a regular dash

Rear Mount Point(s). One on each side which will get some sort of bracket

version right before the one you will see but super close. You get the idea of what I have been doing n the upper flange to dash area with the swept up areas

Hanging on the mount points. Shift knob is my printed version on the short shift rod. Now I need GTS carpet!!! Or a temporary overlay on the hump while I sort that issue

Looks amazing, proper refined.
How about installing your gauge pod in this car as well?
I’d be curious how they look together.

Singer seems to use some sort of rubberized paint on such parts - maybe look into that? Provides a REALLY nice feeling finish, sort of like black rubber but more solid...
