Hello all,
I recently purchased a really nice, restored 924 that is unfortunately going to need a fuel tank. The person who restored it used POR-15 coating inside and it appears to be peeling off and clogging up everything.
I realize this is a huge job as the transaxle needs to come out, it is beyond what I want to tackle myself, plus there are plenty of other issues with this car to keep me busy.
I won't use the shop I occasionally had work on my 911, as the guy burned me last time so I am looking for recommendations.
Thanks!

I read this and got scared to suggest someone because of this sentence...
"I won't use the shop I occasionally had work on my 911, as the guy burned me last time...."
I am worried its the same but that would surprise me _________________ 1980 931 since 1989

Hi Mike,
Fire away.
I had the problem with Fischer in Barrington. Not so much with the the work performed or the price, just the turn around. He let my crack free dash car sit outside baking in the sun for three plus weeks while he worked on other peoples cars. Every time I called or emailed, he blew me off. Finally, I got hold of someone there and said I was retrieving the car the next day (I'm an hour plus away), and all the work was done the next day when I arrived miraculously. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried them again, and there was another issue.

Send a DM to Tyler (@lildude4life). He's in Milwaukee and may be able to suggest someone in the immediate area. There's also Charlie Hitchcock in Woodstock IL. He's not here on the forum, but his website is: https://www.mynineelevenshop.com/ _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Thanks so much for the help, guys.
This is the second reference for mynineelevenshop, so I will try contacting them shortly. I am just over the WI/IL border and Woodstock is really convenient for me, hope it works out. _________________ 1977 Martini 924, 1985 Mercedes 300SD, 1956 Austin-Healey 100 |
