I just came back to Watkins Glen to race again. It's been 37 years since my last race here. Today was miserable rain all day, I qualified 22nd out of 30 some cars but first in my class. No vision at all. I ran the race this afternoon and finished 15th O/A and first in class by .2 sec. Tomorrow is supposed to be clear and I'm looking forward to actually being able to see the "bus stop" through my windshield. It didn't exist when I raced here before. _________________ 1979 924 NA race car

"You know you're old when..." (they've changed the track layout since you started racing there!)
Full disclosure: for me, that describes both Pitt Race (was Beaverun when I first raced there, with NASA, and was only the unremarkable North Course - 10 times better now with the full circuit) and Gingerman (also improved with a smaller extension).
I was racing last weekend, but not the 924 so didn't post... June Sprints in the P2 Firefly, managed a 6th and a 5th in a very stiff field... horrendous downpour for Quali, but we all kept our noses clean and ran clean green to checker, something few if any other groups managed. Turn 1 was a wall of mist, pretty scary ripping in there full throttle at over 130mph not even knowing where the corner is, let alone if anyone else is parked there... weather was awful all weekend except Sunday... heading back there for the CAT Majors in a few weeks... the punishment will continue...
PS - just missed being around for Brands Hatch: flew home from England Friday, was there all week - yes, right after a race weekend, put the toys away and rush to the airport... was up near Coventry all week, for work... no rest for the wicked, and now only 3 weeks to repair and refresh the P2... _________________ Vaughan Scott
