Before i start pulling my hair out, here's a question;
When my snailshell is in neutral position, is my shift lever in front of second/third gear?
is it in front of fourth/fifth gear? is it in between?
Is the spring on the guide bar below the shift lever supposed to pull the lever to the fourth/fifth gear? Or is it supposed to pull the lever back to second/third gear when disengaging first gear (it pulls it in between second and fourth now)?
All the bushings are replaced, adjustments are as stated by factory manual including the 15 degrees on the guide bar. |

Mine rests between second and third in neutral, although the sloppy bushings make it easy to accidentally grind first when downshifting from forth - I've found the best thing to do is not to pull towards me at all when downshifting out of forth/fifth, just let it center itself. I know there's a spring pushing it away from first/reverse, but I'm not sure about the forth/fifth side. I'm assuming when the linkage is tight and adjusted properly, the spring keeps you from getting to the first/reverse side without some effort. Of course, mine is nowhere near tight, nor properly adjusted... _________________ 1980 931 diamond in the rough |
