The engine swap makes much more sense in a 944 which engine isnt suited to boost compared to the 924. All the rust and bent car would probably have taken lots of effort to sort before even starting on the fun stuff. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

Nice find. I assume it's an early 944 (ie. '82-'85). If so, it shares suspension with 924T, not 924 n/a.
Virtually nothing is interchangeable with basic 924, apart from pedal box and door shells and rear hatch, and possibly headlight motor/linkage.
With the 944 you now have the GT widebody, 5 stud wheels, 4 wheel discs and later model suspension.
Struts and stubs, rear suspension, gearbox, heater blower, wiper motor are all different. Rear end is Audi derived. Torque tube is 25mm (same as 924T) rather than the 20mm of the 924 n/a.
If you are thinking of moving on the GT/GTS panels and/or moulds, or at least a GT bumper (red w/black faux rubber strip - on the right in one of your pictures above), let me know.
Tried to PM you but for some reason the message is still in my 'to send folder'.

Yes its an early 944. Theres really that little shared? Was hoping the front struts and knuckles were at least shared so I could use the 924 ones as a basis for building coil overs, likewise the rear suspension [build it out of the car, swap it so car remains rolling. By eye, the heater looks the same [squirrel cage looking thing].
Ive sold the red GTS kit off however theres still a lot of left over parts like a 924 GT bumper, spare GTS grill inserts, a spare 924 lightweight glass bar - i cant remember which of the red rear bumpers went with the kit I sold but Ill double check and reply to your pm. Have another pair of fibreglass front gaurds and still have the GTS rear gaurd moulds. Will take stock of and send you a pm [recieved it btw]
Also have a few other bits left over like 5 stud hubs and a whole roof cut with sunroof/no rust etc
Cheers

There's some stuff that is interchangeable, the struts are one of those thinga. But the early 924s are a bit odd, they have alot of unique stuff that changed later on. The rear suspension for example is one of those things. Its the same between 924 and 944 except for the early 924. Wich have a little simpler and lighter setup. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo
